WALNUT COVE Johnny James Mabe Feb. 7, 1949 - Sept. 26, 2012

Mr. Johnny James Mabe, 63, a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather and devoted brother, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, peacefully Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Stokes County on February 7, 1949 to John Robert and Trudie Ann Bullins Mabe.

He was employed by R.J. Reynolds with 35 years of service. Johnny was an animal lover and had a passion for horses. He was a member of Stokesburg United Methodist Church. A 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at Stokesburg United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bruce Updyke and Rev. Ricky Craig officiating.

In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by one brother William Robert Mabe.

He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Donna Kirkman Mabe of the home; three daughters, Jenny Mabe Mitchell of Greensboro, Michelle Mabe Cook and husband Woody of Wilmington, Whitney Ammons of Walnut Cove, four grandchildren, Ashley Mitchell, Davis Mitchell, Oliver Cook, and Lenna Sapp; three sisters, Doris Hutchens and husband Tony of Yadkinville, Margie Bullins and husband Doyle, Lucille Smith and husband Russell, all of Walnut Cove; two brothers, Tommy Mabe and wife Judy, Robbie Mabe and wife Tammy, all of Walnut Cove.

The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service Friday, September 28, 2012 at the church and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Stokes County, P.O. Box 863, Walnut Cove NC 27052. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Hospice and the many friends and family for the loving support during Johnny's illness.
