LAWSONVILLE JAMES "BETHEL" MABE Nov. 3, 1929 - Jan. 1, 2013 James "Bethel" Mabe, 83, of 1010 Bethel Lane, passed away, Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, at Peters Creek Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Mabe was born on November 3, 1929, in Stokes County to the late James Weldon and Rosa Bullins Mabe.

He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Travel Protection Agency. He was a member of Peters Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Tultex, Inc. with 32 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Truman Mabe; a brother-in-law, James Shelton; and a son-in-law, Aaron Manuel.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Jewell S. Mabe; sons, Barry Mabe of Eden and David (Angela) Mabe of Collinsville, VA; daughters, Peggy Manuel of Stoneville, Rachel (Mark) Clifton of Chatham, VA, and Stephanie (Eddie) Yarbrough of Youngsville; sisters, Velma Shelton of Lawsonville and Stella (Curtis) Carter of Collinsville, VA; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Peters Creek Baptist Church and other times at the residence. Mr. Mabe will placed in the church at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd, Dobson, NC 27017.
