LAMBSBURG, Va - Mrs. Eliza Rebecca Faulkner Upchurch, 87, of Lambsburg, widow of Mr. Jasper Upchurch, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, was received into the loving arms of God on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004. She died peacefully at her home in Lambsburg with her family by her bedside. Mrs. Upchurch was born May 13, 1917, in Surry County to Bob and Minnie Beamer Faulkner. She is survived by eight children, Elmer Upchurch of the home, Albert and June Upchurch, Loretta Smith, Thelma and Corbet Bryant and Nelma and Johnny Robinson, all of Lambsburg, Alma and Russell Haynes of Clemmons, N.C., Elizabeth Williams of Kernersville, N.C., and Wilma and Arnold Triplet of Burlington, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Upchurch was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerome, Ralph, Reed and Ramon Faulkner; a half sister, Zula Hawks Stone; two grandsons, Chris Haynes and Michael Bryant; a granddaughter, Misti Triplet; and a great-grandson, Travis Upchurch. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Lambsburg Fellowship Tabernacle, where she was a faithful member for 50 years and the oldest charter member. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Donald Bryant and the Rev. Bob Phipps. Burial will follow in the Edwards-Upchurch Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, Dec. 10, at Moody Funeral Home. Mrs. Upchurch's body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
