Virginia Edith Davis (Jenny) Sawyers, 76, of Mount Airy, N.C., died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

She was born December 4, 1929 in Grayson County to the late John Sanders and Martha Jane Hall Davis.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Ottoway Sawyers; two sons, Weldon Ottoway Sawyers Jr. and Don Sawyers.

She was retired from Cross Creek Apparel Co. and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Sanders C. Sawyers, Thomas B. Sawyers and Eric Sawyers all of Mount Airy, and Michael Sawyers of Ararat; one sister, Gladys Parker of Richmond, Calif.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The Rev. Winfred Davis officiated. Burial was in the Sawyers family cemetery in Fancy Gap.
