Litz Edward Adams

ELKIN — Litz Edward Adams, a prominent Elkin businessman who owned Johnson Funeral Home, passed away at his home in Mooresville Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010.

Born Aug. 17, 1949, at Richlands, Va., he was 60 years old.

He purchased the funeral home after the passing of his dear friend, Jo Johnson. He also owned and operated Jo Lea, Inc., a local automobile dealership, and was a successful home building contractor. Litz had a passion for building, and he became known for the impeccable attention to detail that he gave to each and every project. He was a perfectionist who is now in a Perfect Place with a Perfect Savior.

Litz is survived by his daughter, Bridget Lea Adams-Blackwelder (Chris) of Gastonia; his mother, Eva Lucille Lester Adams of Gilbert, W.Va.; a sister, Winona Adams of Wharncliffe, W.Va.; a brother, Russell Reed Adams Jr. (Eloise) of Gilbert, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews, including April Cantrell (Jamie), Amanda Cline (Josh), Michelle Lester (Chad), Russell Adams III (Charlotte), McKenley Adams and Morgan Ann Swaim; and great-nieces and nephews, Kate Adams, Lydia Reid Adams, Brian Lester, Madison Lester, Dillon Cantrell and Devon Cantrell. He also leaves behind his precious pets and companions, Bo Bo and Gabriel (Gabi), who were always there for him.
There are also many special friends who love him dearly and have been touched by his kindness and compassion. We are blessed to have known such a man and are proud to have called him friend.

Litz was preceded in death by his father, Russell Reed Adams Sr., and brother, Eugene Scott Adams, both of West Virginia; and a very special feline friend, Harrison Adams.

Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb., 17, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Iredell County Humane Society, 110 Robinson Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.

June Louise Rummel Anderson

MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. June Louise Rummel Anderson, age 87 of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Anderson was a resident of Golden Living Center.

She was born in Lima, OH, June 27, 1922 to William C. and Clara Wright Rummel.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving is her devoted husband, Ed Anderson of the home; sons and a daughter-in-law, William S. Anderson of Mount Airy; Alan J. and Cathy Anderson of Cana, VA; grandchildren, Deanna M. Berrier, Andrew S. Anderson and William S. Anderson; great grandchildren, Abby M. Anderson; Lucas A Berrier and Cody Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Claire J. Butler.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher M. Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 17, 2010 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Steve Lindsley. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Brenda Ann Bowling

MOUNT AIRY — Ms. Brenda Ann Bowling, 57, of 221 Red Barn Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at her home.

She was born May 23, 1952, in Surry County to Lela Louise Hazelwood Bowling.

She was a nursing assistant and was a member of the Living Water Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Rhonda Atkins of Ararat; a daughter, Brenda Hawks of White Plains; a stepson, Roman Ruiz of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Raven Orozco and Zane Orozco of Mount Airy; mother, Lela Louise Hazelwood Bowling of Mount Airy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Ronnie Holyfield of White Plains and Linda and Javier Juarez of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Donald Ray and Larue Bowling of Ararat.

Ms. Bowling was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Dean Bowling.

Allen Lawrence Cain

MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Allen Lawrence Cain, 65, of 142 Mills Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1944, in Surry County to the late Raymond Lawrence and Ila Nunn Cain.

He was retired from Hanesbrands, Inc. and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Felts of Dobson, Judy Bingman and friend Teddy Brickell, Phyllis and Dennis Joines and Linda and Jerry Goad, all of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Nancy Cain of Shallotte; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Wanda Arrington of Winston-Salem.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lanny Atkins. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. Dorothy Riggs Casey

MOUNT AIRY — Dorothy Riggs Casey, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday Feb. 17, 2010, at Woltz Hospice Home.

Mrs. Casey was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Surry County to Brady and Lila Mae Snow Riggs.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Casey was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Monroe Casey; brothers, Elmer Riggs, Delmer Riggs, and Brady Riggs Jr.; and sisters, Lorene Marion and Irene Collins.

She is survived by a daughter, Tina Ward and husband Oral of Mount Airy; a brother, Frank Riggs and wife Jesse of Mount Airy; two sisters, Ellen Martin and husband Delano of Mount Airy and Louise Tucker and husband Jimmy of Boonville; two sisters-in-law, Mae Riggs and Barbara Riggs; two grandchildren, Heather Buckley of West Jefferson and Matthew Turney and wife Nicole of Pilot Mountain; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Brendon Buckley and Cheyanne Turney; and three step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at 4 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Dodds and the Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating. JoAnn Lawson Coke

KING - Ms. JoAnn Lawson Coke, 68, of King, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Ms. Coke was born May 9, 1941, in Surry County, to the late Wendell and Josie Gwyn Lawson.

She was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Judy and Darryl Kennedy of Bigelow, AR; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Junior Coake of Greer, SC, and Bobby and Nancy Coake of Lowgap; grandchildren and spouse, Larry and Iulia Coake of Columbus, OH, Donald Cardwell of Akron, OH, Heather Kennedy of Bigelow, AR, and Brandy Coake and Codie Coake, both of Greer; step-grandchildren, Robert Kennedy of Columbus, OH, and Larry Kennedy of Fort Myers, FL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janis and Gene Danley of Ararat and Joan and Jimmy France of Mount Airy; a loving companion of her life, Bud Culler of King; and a special friend, Pat Abraham of Monroe, MI.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Coke was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Kennedy; and two brothers, Larry Lawson and Wendell Lawson, Jr.

MOUNT AIRY—Mrs. Rita Elizabeth Payne Collins, age 65, of Mount Airy, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2010.

Mrs. Collins was born in Surry County on November 9, 1944 to the late William and Evelyn Willard Payne.

Mrs. Collins worked in Sales Management until retiring. She was a long time member of Bottom Road Tabernacle in Mt Airy. She will be remembered for her love of painting, poetry, her special love for all children, but mostly for her love of the Lord and his beautiful world.

Mrs. Collins was preceded in death parents, one brother, William Haywood “Billy” Payne and former husband, Ralph Collins, Jr.

Mrs. Collins is survived by two sons, Darrell and Steve Collins both of Mt. Airy; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Abby Collins, Jeremiah, and Aaron Collins, Stacy, Kaci and Dean Bowman, Ashley Tilley and Kaila English; three sisters, Carol Coalson of Mt Airy, Kay (Steve) Montgomery of New Caney, TX and Mary Cox of Mt Airy; numerous nieces and nephews; very special friends, Amy and April Thomas, Creasy Chappell and her beloved Boo Kitty; her and our special friend, Dennis Chaney and many other who were blessed to be touched through her life.

Grace Benge Couch, 92 of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mrs. Couch was born May 31, 1917 in Surry County to Gordon and Maggie Maulding Benge.

She was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Couch was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. Couch; two brothers, Earl Benge and Farris Benge; and three sisters, Mozelle Darnell, Irene Freeman, and Beulah Calhoun Darnell.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Couch and wife Linda of Elkin; her daughter, Betty K. Couch of Elkin; three grandchildren, Jamie Couch, Sandra Rhoades, and Jason Couch; three great grandchildren, Valerie Couch Dillard, Chase Couch, and Ashley Rhoades; and a great-great grandchild, Malachai Dillard.

Mr. Aaron Keith Dowell age 43 of 763 N. Franklin Road, Mt. Airy, NC passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

He was born January 29, 1967 in Surry County to Raymond Donald and Nelba Leftwich Dowell.

He was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving are his parents, Raymond D. and Nelba L. Dowell of the home, a sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Stephen Dowell, Mt. Airy, and two brothers, Donald Dowell and Jeffrey Dowell both of Mt. Airy.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Dowell Family Cemetery conducted by Rev. Billy Moore. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Charles Randolph Eldridge

DOBSON - Mr. Charles Randolph “Randy” Eldridge, 63, of Dobson passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday February 18, 2010.

Mr. Eldridge was born in Surry County on September 18, 1946 to the late Floyd Wendell and Ival Quesinberry Eldridge.

He was President of Professional Roofing Services and a dedicated member of Salem Fork Baptist Church. He was a 1964 graduate of Mount Airy High School and attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Eldridge served our country during the Vietnam War and was a true American.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Leslie Kirkman Eldridge of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Gray Haymore of Dobson; two nieces and spouses, Candy and Trevar Johnson of Dobson and Molly and Fred Fisher of Lexington, Kentucky; two great-nephews, Bailey and Brody Johnson and many very special friends.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Salem Fork Baptist Church by Rev. Tom Parker and Honorary Minister, Rev. Van Brindle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service. Ronald James Gammons

Mr. Ronald James “Ronnie” Gammons, age 50 of Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010.

He was born in Patrick County on June 22, 1959 to the late William Grady Gammons and Dorothy Pruitt Spence Gammons.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gammons was preceded in death by two brothers, G. W. Gammons and Charlie Ray Spence.

He had worked for Smith Brothers trucking in Mount Airy.

Mr. Gammons is survived by his wife, Anita Wood Gammons of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Warner of Martinsville and Deena Williams of Stuart; and two step-sons, Nathaniel Gilley of Patrick Springs and Matthew Gilley of Vesta.

A memorial graveside service for Mr. Gammons will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Stateline Cemetery with Pastor Larry Barker officiating. Johnny Ted Harrah Jr

MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Johnny Ted Harrah, Jr., age 40, of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Northern Hospital of Surry County.

Mr. Harrah was born in Cook County, IL on May 13, 1969 to the late Barbara Smith Biggs and the late Johnny Ted Harrah, Sr.

Mr. Harrah worked at Wake Forest University Construction Department and was of the Baptist Faith.

Mr. Harrah is survived by his wife, Penny Marion Harrah; two daughters, Samantha Nicole and Deanna Renee Harrah both of the home; mother, Barbara Biggs; four sisters, Sheila Ann Foster of WV, Trina Michelle Stiehl of Archdale, Amanda Dawn Spencer of Salem, VA, Sharon Rose Biggs of WV and special niece, Holly Ann Foster.

Mr. Harrah was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ronald Smith.

PILOT MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Grady Pauline Nunn Jackson, age 97, of Pilot Mountain passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Northern Hospital of Surry County.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Surry county on November 2, 1912 to the late Rufus Dillard and Verlie Ann Southern Nunn.

Mrs. Jackson was a retired farmer and homemaker and a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Betty Jackson Joyce, Janie Jackson Ashburn and Cathy Jackson Wall (Chester), all of Pilot Mountain; five grandchildren, Julia Matthews (Tim) of Pilot Mountain, Lindsay Ashburn Jr. (Tammy) of King, Renea Shore (Erik) of Hamptonville, Robert Wall (Danielle) of Pilot Mountain; Brenda Chapman (Mark) of Westfield; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, L.C. Nunn of Mt. Airy; one sister, Beulah Gibbons of Mt. Airy; and one sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Nunn of Pinnacle.

Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Woodrow Jackson; one infant son, R.C. Jackson, one brother, Troy Nunn; three sisters, Eva Turney, Loma Wilson and Thelma Mitchell.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2010 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m.. with the Brother Chester Wall and the Rev. Ron Chamblin officiating with interment to follow at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Mildred Simmons James

BURLINGTON — Mildred “Millie” Simmons James, 82, formerly of Green Meadow Drive, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at the Hospice Home.

She was the wife of the late Hilton Lee James and was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Surry County to the late Joseph Crystal and Maude Lee Simmons.

Millie began her nursing career at the Polio Hospital in Greensboro and retired as the Director of Nurses from Wesley Long Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington where she had taught Sunday School and worked in the office.

Survivors include her son, Mike James and his wife Lisa of Summerfield; grandchildren, Hannah Long and her husband Devin and Jeremy James; a great-grandson, Brett Long; a sister, Jesse Harrell of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister JoAnna Katrinak; and brothers, Richard “Joe” Simmons, Raymond Simmons and Warren Simmons.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Burlington by Dr. Terry Peele. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Dennis Wayne McMillian

ARARAT — Mr. Dennis Wayne McMillian, 53, of 456 Radar Road, Ararat, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 2010, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.

Mr. McMillian was born Feb. 29, 1956, in Surry County, son of Mary Dollyhigh McMillian Tilley and the late Wayne Leon McMillian.

Dennis was a supervisor at Kidron Inc. in Bartow, Fla., for several years and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Mount Airy. Dennis had a passion for flying and music.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary and Jay Tilley of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Chris and Marilyn McMillian of Ararat; a niece, Anna McMillian of Ararat; two nephews, Cody McMillian and Casey McMillian, both of Ararat; and his fiancée and caregiver, Tami Crowe and her son, Kevin, of Ridgeway, Va.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Slate Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris McMillian and the Rev. Jimmy Slate officiating. MOUNT AIRY — Miss Tracey Lynn Midkiff, 41, of 343 Woodruff Street, Mount Airy, NC passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at her home.

She was born March 17, 1968, in Surry County to Lonnie Elmen and Wanda Jean Haynes Midkiff.

She was of the Baptist Faith and was sent to her family from above to show them the true meaning of love.

CANA , Va. — Mrs. Nonnie Vera Hudson Monday, 91, of Cana, VA, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Monday was born January 19, 1919, in Surry County, to the late Ed Jacob and Nora Jane Creed Hudson.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a homemaker, enjoyed quilting and gardening, and was well known for her beautiful roses.

Mrs. Monday is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Norman Blanchard of Floyd, VA; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard Monday of Winston Salem, Junior and Jo Monday of Dugspur, VA, and Arthur and Denna Monday of Cana, VA; grandchildren and spouses, Donald and Danielle Blanchard of Staunton, VA, Earl Blanchard of Shawsville, VA, Daniel and Kelly Monday and LeAnn and Josh Pickett, all of Cana, VA, Matthew Monday of King, and Cody Monday of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, Katie Monday, Korbin Monday, and Susannah Blanchard; sisters, Una Seal of Mount Airy and Josephine Griffin of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ora Ellen Adams Norman, age 94 of Elkin passed away on Monday morning February 15, 2010 at Elkin Heath Care.

She was born on May 21, 1915 to the late Mahon and Almedia Hodge Adams, in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Earlie Norman; one daughter Mary Florence Norman; and three sisters.

She was a member of Mitchell River Primitive Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

MOUNT AIRY - Opal Forrest Pike passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at her home in Mount Airy.

Mrs. Pike was born October 18, 1914, in Oxford. She was the daughter of William Emmett Forrest, Sr. and Margaret Haynes Forrest.

Mrs. Pike was the wife of the late Floyd S. Pike. Together, they founded Floyd S. Pike Electrical Contractors, Inc.

Mrs. Pike’s survivors are her son, Joe B. Pike and his wife, Anne; a grandson, Eric Pike and his wife, Belinda, and their sons, Will and Ben; a granddaughter, Margaret Pike and her husband, Dr. David Werle, and their daughter, Katie Pike-Werle, and a new daughter who is due next week; and a brother, William Emmett Forrest, Jr.

Mrs. Pike’s sister, Frances Forrest Martin, preceded her in death.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving for the life of Opal Forrest Pike will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 18, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The service will be officiated by the Rev. J. Kip Smith and the Rev. Paul Riggs. Pearl Lillian Redd, 82, of Galax, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in Twin County Regional Hospital.

She was born May 12, 1927, in Surry County, N.C., to James Earl and Ida Choate Vernon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Monroe Redd.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Paige and Wade robinson of woodlawn; son, Steven Monroe Redd of Galax; two grandchildren and spouse; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Earlie Vernon of West Jefferson, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Samuel Riley Rule, 85, of 2553 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, February 15, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Rule was born December 18, 1924, in Surry County, son of the late Archie Dean and Katherine Gwyn Rule.

Sam served our country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He retired as a private contractor and was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and George Womble of Buies Creek and Bess Jane “B.J.” and Mickey Love of Westfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Armida Rule of Pilot Mountain and Samuel James and Kay Rule of Asheville; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Georgia P. Love, Travis and Lucy S. Love, Matthew and Mary Ruth C. Love, Christopher and Tory E. Rule, Lance and Lindsey R. White, Christopher and Robin W. Blackmore, Badgett Womble, Paul and Holly W. Mr. Settle was born December 3, 1958 in Surry County to Lawrence Clifton and Bessie Absher Settle.

He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was self employed as a construction worker.

In addition to his father, Mr. Settle was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Opal Settle Smith and a brother, Dale Clifton Settle.

Mrs. Mary Louise “Bonnie” Amburn Shinn, 78, of Junior Order Home Road, died Saturday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after declining health of six months.

Thomasville - Mrs. Nonnie Nichols Todd, 95, a resident of 112 Cannon Street, died Friday, February 12, 2010 at her residence.

She was born in Surry County, September 26, 1914 a daughter of John Henry Nichols and Lavada White Nichols and had been a resident of Thomasville for most of her life.

She had retired from Freeman Manufacturing and was a member of Central Wesleyan Church.

She was married to Fair Banks Todd who preceded her in death.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Sue Gibson and her husband Bobby of Thomasville; two sons, John Todd and his wife Scottie of Thomasville and Eddie (Ed) Todd and his wife Katie of Coleridge; nine grandchildren including Billy Joe Williams and Norma Jean Pickett who were her caregivers in the home; seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ruverna Evans of Winston Salem, and several half brothers and half sisters.

She was preceded in death by children, Donald Banks Todd, Doris Lee Todd, and Shirley Ann Todd Williams.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 PM at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. David Albertson. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the hour of service. She was born April 25, 1954, the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Clark.

Clara was the daughter of Edward and Heeth Clark and was born and raised in Mt. Airy, NC.

She married Jeff Walters in 1990 and they welcomed their son Matthew in 1994.

Clara received her BSN from UNC Greensboro. Most recently, she served as a pediatric nurse in the KidsFirst / CHOP Kennett Square office.
She was deeply involved in Aldersgate Church over many years, from Membership & Evangelism to the bell choir. She loved gardening, travel, and creating art, especially sewing and quilting. Most of all, she loved living and laughing with her family and friends.

In addition to Jeff and Matt, Clara is survived by her sister Heeth (Missy) McCown; brothers Thorne, Sherwood (Woody), and William (Bill); sisters-in-law Vernita Clark, Janice Kroll, and Kim Walters; brothers-in-law Rainer McCown, Doug Kroll, and Larry Walters; and a wonderful array of 11 nieces and their children.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2312 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 where friends may call beginning at 2:00. There will be a reception immediately following the service. Burial will be private.

Charles Wade Westmoreland Jr

MOUNT AIRY - Charles Wade Westmoreland, Jr., passed away late Sunday morning, February 14, 2010.

He was born in Winston Salem on November 26, 1944 to Doris and Charles Wade Westmoreland.

He was a graduate of Reynolds High School and High Point University and was the owner of Quick Flip, Inc. in Mount Airy. Chuck grew up attending Ardmore Methodist Church with his family. Chuck had many friends and loved spending time with his son, family members and golfing buddies. He was blessed with a compassionate heart and could always find the good in everyone he met. In return, he was loved by many. It was fitting that he passed away on the love holiday, Valentine's Day, following a long battle with heart disease. He believed in the grace of God and the everlasting hope of eternal life. We will all miss his infectious sense of humor, laughter and love.

Chuck was preceded in death by his precious daughter Caroline Johnson Westmoreland in 1983 and his adoring parents, Doris and Charles Wade Westmoreland.

He is survived by his beloved son, Adam Charles Westmoreland, daughter in law, Brooke Westmoreland and grandson Owen Adam Westmoreland all of Erie, Pennsylvania. In addition, he is survived by his sisters Diane Westmoreland Haynes of Johnson City, Tennessee, Elaine Westmoreland White and husband Joseph White of Winston Salem; niece, Shelton Haynes Shelton and husband Rick Shelton of Knoxville, Tennessee; Nephews, Olen Gale Haynes, Jr and wife Kristy Haynes of Johnson City and Wesley Robert Haynes of Johnson City; great-nephews, Olen Gale Haynes, III and Charles Lee Shelton; great-niece, Lily Anna Haynes.
