I have a g-grandfather Joseph Buchanan Byrd b. in Missouri between 1858-1861. He had a brother Russell and a sister Nancy. I cannot find their parents. The only thing I can come up with was James W and Mariah Byrd. They had 3 children with names of William, Joseph and Nancy. Joseph was listed born in Oregon Co, MO. Anyway, I was told that he was Cherokee and was offered land in Okla but turned it down so that no one would know he was indian. He had two aunts that did take the land offered to them. Hopefully you might have something that might match up to this. I have been working on this for over 10 years with my Mom. And we just can't get past Joseph B Byrd. He was married to a Nancy Rice, and then to a Sarah Catherine Forrest. Hope you can help. Thanks Laura Sword
