Swain Count Marriages Volume I 1871 - 1905 on page 49 has the following entry:
Cunningham, Rufis (note, it is spelled with an "i") T., 20, of Swain to Mary Dehart, 18, of Swain, on September 19, 1880. Performed by B. L. Morgan, Baptist Minister, at James Dehart's Nantahala Twsp. Thomas Allen, James Clampitt and Jas. Wall, wit.
I have Dehart and Cunningham ancestors from Swain but not Rufus/Rufis and Mary. They are probably related to me but I just don't have the names in my database. I would be interested in exchanging info on your Cunninghams and Deharts. My direct email is firstname.lastname@example.org
The book, Swain County Marriages Volume II has the marriage of a possible child of Rufus and Mary:
Cunningham, R.L., 23, son of R.T and Mary Cunningham, (both living), to Hattie Cunningham, 19, of Macon County, daugher of Charley and Maggie Cunningham (both living) of Macon Co., on September 20, 1910. Performed by J.S. Woodard, Minister of the Gospel, at J.S. Woodard's, Nantahala. Dessie Cunningham and Arlethe Simonds, wit.
I have Woodards and Simonds in my line as well. Looking forward to hearing from you.
