My great grandmother, Martha Rosanna McCall came from the Mecklenburg-Union county areas. I believe I have found her in the 1880 census of Mecklenburg co. According to my grandmother, her mother was an orphan. She had at least one sister named Mollie, and I believe there were others.
William McCall Self 63 NC

Jennette G Dau 7 NC
Martha G Dau 5 NC

S. Milton McCall Self 55 NC
Jane E Wife 44 NC
Mollie Niece 12 NC
William and Milton McCall according to my information I found were brothers, sons of Thomas McCall and Elizabeth Black.
In the 1870 census of Mecklenburg co.,
Mary McCall 25 NC
Margaret 8 NC
Molly 3 NC
The way it looks to me is that William McCall was the father of Mary and that she was an unwed mother. Anyway that is my take on this. I think it is safe to say that Martha and Jennette were sisters. Martha and my great grandfather Don Hartis married about 1892 and came to Texas in 1900. Would love to make contact on this and discuss further.
Regards,
Peggy
