BOONVILLE Jerry Edsal Matthews April 20, 1937 - Feb. 11, 2013 Mr. Jerry Edsal Matthews, 75, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Matthews was born April 20, 1937 in Yadkin County to Roy and Lucinda Brown Matthews. He served in the US Army and was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Matthews. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jackie Shelton Matthews; a daughter, Tina Matthews; two sisters, Betty Lou Eagle and Collie Ann (Gilbert) Wooten; two brothers, Thomas Lewis "T.L." (Nell) Matthews and Billy Joe (Edna) Matthews; a sister-in-law, Judy Matthews A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Gooden and Rev. Mervin Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family wishes to thank the staff of Kate B.
