WINSTON-SALEM Sue Horn Beck May 2, 1937 - March 13, 2013 Mrs. Sue Horn Beck departed this life at the age of 75 on March 13, 2013. She was born May 2, 1937 in East Bend to the late Goldie and Byron Horn. Mrs. Beck was an active member of Knollwood Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Memaw. She touched so many with her love of gardening, canning, making blankets and corn bags, cooking for her family and going out to eat with friends. Memaw loved her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always supporting their interests. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Richard, Bill, Robert, Jim, and Norman Horn and sisters, Bobbie Hall and Jane Ayers. Mrs. Beck leaves to cherish her memory the love of her life, her husband of nearly 57 years, Gene Beck of the home, son Carl (Jennifer) Beck of Valdese, daughters Donna (Tom) Reeder, Anna (Keith) Gallimore and Mary Beth (John) Henderson all of Wallburg; seven grandchildren, Brian Cavanaugh, Anthony Reeder, Kristan (David) Rimmer, Holly (Ian) Stanick, Tucker and Hayden Beck and Weston Henderson; two great-grandsons, Grayson Stanick and David Rimmer; sister Lillie (Wayne) Bishop, brother, Jack (Lucille) Horn; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. It is with sincere appreciation that we thank the 9th floor North hematology and oncology staff at WFBH who cared for her these past few weeks. Services will be held Sunday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood Street, Winston-Salem with Dr. Bob Setzer, Jr and Dr. Steve Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Knollwood Baptist Church Youth Ministry or Crisis Control Ministry.
