It is with great saddness the passing of member Jennie F. Murphy.
Jennie F. Murphy, 88, of Flushing, Ohio died Friday, January 6, 2012 at Cumberland Pointe Health and Rehab. She was born May 18, 1923 near Flushing, Ohio, daughter of the late Frances Gregg and Hugh Patton Moore.
A life resident of the Flushing area, Jennie was retired from the U.S. Postal service after 19 years of service at Lafferty, Flushing, Bannock, Barton, Fairpoint, and Holloway. She was a member of Flushing United Methodist Church, a member of W.S.C.S., a member of U.M.W. for over 50 years, a member of Belmont County Genealogical Society, and a member of Flushing Garden Club for 25 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Darl A. Murphy; brother, Harold Moore; and sisters, Mary Perry and Freeda Johnson.
Jennie is survived by her sons, David (Lila) Murphy and Robert (Gayle) Murphy both of Flushing, Ohio; daughters, Darlene (Tom) Scott of Grand Island, Florida and Susan (Walt) Shade of Cadiz, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly Ewers and Lori Caswell both of Sissonville, West Virginia; Jami Faulkner of Maryville, Tennessee, Shari McNichols of Leesburg, Florida, Jason Tipton of Lavonia, Georgia; Melissa Dombeck of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Michael Murphy of Canton, Ohio, Brian Murphy of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Jennifer Arnold of Barnesville, Ohio, Lesa Schmidt of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Amanda Tracy of Quaker City, Ohio, and Emily Schlechty of Greenville, Ohio; 16 great-grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Ewers and Katie Caswell all of Sissonville, West Virginia, Joshua, Katana, and Xavier Tipton, and Nelson Jones of Lavonia, Georgia, Lucas and Amber Murphy of Canton, Ohio, Olivia Faulkner of Maryville, Tennessee, Christopher and Isaac Toohey of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Zachary Toohey and Samantha Murphy of Barnesville, Ohio, Anna Marie Schmidt and Wyatt Darl Murphy, both of St. Clairsville, Ohio; brother, Glenn Moore of Walton Hills, Ohio; and sisters, Clara Helman of Strongsville, Ohio, Cora Mae Jones of Antelope,California, and Gladys Johnson of Byesville, Ohio.
Family and friends may call, Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kelly Kemp Braido Funeral Homes, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio, where services will be conducted, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Reverend David K. Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing, Ohio.
