My Wheeler line has Aaron Wheeler (1781-1846) and Lucy Hill Wheeler (1785-1851). Their daughter was Dorothy Wheeler Simmons (1818-1863). Most of them lived in Union County, though I have family from Belmont.

Do you have any inscriptions that would match up with those names? Thanks, Sherry

I am looking for any information regarding the parents of David Johnson, born in Ohio 1820. I believe his mother was born in Maryland and his father in Ireland. He and his wife Sophia De Bertrand spent their married lives in Belmont county, I'm assuming this is also the area where David grew up.

I am also looking for information on Sophia De Bertrand prior to immigrating to Ohio from the Guernsey Isle with her brother Thomas.

Does anyone have access to the book that has transcriptions of headstones made by the Cumberland Trail Genealogical Society? I need the readings from cemetery PE-07,the Sterling-Koste Cemetery. There are only 3 stones in the cemetery. I transcribed the cemetery over 30 years ago and submitted it to the Ohio Records and Pioneer Families and it was published in a 1980 volume, but I have misplaced that, and the Cumberland Trail Book and CD I have do not have the actual transcriptions in it.

He was living in Reno, Iowa by 1856 and there was also a Samuel Dyer from Ohio (b. 4/16/1826) that may possibly be related. I have hit lots of dead ends with John and know nothing of his life or family before Reno. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Virginia & William married 24 Dec 1944 in St Clairsville, Belmont, Ohio

William's first wife was: Geraldine Christian they married 1 Mar 1937 in Wellsburg, Brooke, WV

Virginia also died in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California D.O.D.: 7 Jan 1999

Virginia & William has a daughter Sandra Lee Miller living in Sterling Hghts, MI acording to Sandra hes father is still living as of 2009 that is.

If you know the county and state go to that co. genealogy and see if they list cemeteries. May have to go threw all the names some are afabetical. Some are at space where buried. I like the maps of the spaces buried. Or maybe put the name searching for in the co. gen. search.

ENON VALLEY, PA. – Mary Jane Gallagher, 88, passed away on Jan. 18, 2013, at her home in Enon Valley.

She was born in Cambridge, Ohio (Guernsey County)on Dec. 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian (Smith) Tickhill.

Mary Jane was a high school graduate and was of the Presbyterian faith.

On Sept. 25, 1944, Mary Jane married her late husband Charles E. Gallagher.

Mary Jane had been a devoted employee of the New Middletown Dairy Queen for more than 25 years.
During World War II, she served on the local rationing board. She enjoyed camping and playing cards.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Constance Yencik and husband Milan of North Lima, Ohio, Mr. Charles E. Gallagher and wife May of Enon Valley and Mr. Mark Gallagher, also of Enon Valley.

She also leaves behind six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Visitation for Mary Jane will be Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home at 203 Oak St. in Bessemer, Pa.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio.

Nothing in what I have here at home, but chronicingamerica.com has the Belmont Chronicle online and I found two articles. I am not that familiar with the web site, so I thought I would send you the URL for the search.

If that doesn't work for you, just go to the web site and put in Ohio for the state, 1880 for the time frame and then John Haffey. The first image, the article is in the first column towards the bottom in the Feb. 12, 1880 newspaper and
in the 4th column in the Feb 26 1880 newspaper towards the top of the page. I did bookmark the two articles separately too, so I do have them archived here, if you have a problem, I'll send them.

I am trying to find out about their brother John. He lived in Belmont Co as well as the family in 1880. His death record is on ancestry. I was hoping there was an obit for him too. He was white, single age 25 gives Feb of 1880 as date of death. I was hoping to get more info. I am a Seneca Co. researcher for people and since this was in Goshen, Belmont Co.,Ohio I was hoping that there would be an obit for him with more info.

John and his family were living in Belliare at the time of his deathwhich was caused by a railroad accident . He worked as a brakeman as did his father. The family is in Tiffen Ohio by 1890 and there the brothers and sister lived Phillip passed away in 1912 due to a head injuery and lived only 20 min after the accident. April 12 1912. Frank did marry and died in Oct 10 1916 and had 3 children. I will look in the Belliare papers this week to see if I can find a report of the accident and most likle the is not an obit as we know them today ,but will pass on what i find

There is a mortality schedule with John Haffey in Goshen tp. He had his legs amputated and he died at the ace of 25. His father was Patrick Haffey. I am looking for an obit for him. Do not know if he has a grave stone. Can you please help me. I would gladly pay for the help.

LEETONIA – Barbara J. Bell, 70, of Woodville Road, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Vibra Hospital of Mahoning Valley following a short illness.

Mrs. Bell was born Aug. 30, 1942, in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of Harley Edward and Edith Heath Brown, and had lived in this area since 1965.

Barbara worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 20 years.

Her husband, David V. Bell, whom she married Sept. 18, 1965, died June 28, 1987.

When was the son sent to Kansas? I have a Calvin Parton Born 1824 who we have been unable to locate his family. We have a suspected spouse in 1850 in Kentucky, but have not totally proved that connection at this point. It seems likely that it is him and his first wife, but not a definate.

My Calvin lived in Falls river, Wilson County, Kansas in 1870.

Hi Paul, I would love to see the article you mentioned. I will email you with Bill Gretzinger in the subject line. As I heard it he was attacked by a police dog and had some sort of heart problem leading to his death. I am not from the area at all family wise but I do happen to live within a few hours drive right now.

I am a descendant of Bill's youngest daughter Helen Mae. She married a pilot and they moved around a lot for that time and my folks did the same.

If I recall Bill lost a child or two to drowning as well boys I think. I think Helen left the area in her late teens after her mom died (Elizabeth) a few years after Bill and went to live with an older sister Hazel. My mom always thought she was a bit traumatized by the loss she experienced growing up. Mom remembers stories about a jail in Brilliant Ohio. Any information you have on this end of the family would be very much appreciated. My mom never got to meet her maternal grandparents and I'm sure would love to learn more. I may try to drive her down that way next summer when she comes to visit or maybe Christmas if we haven't had a lot of snow. (She isn't a fan of snow, me either for that matter!)

I am not familiar with any Gretzingers in Baltimore currently.

It just came to me, there is one Gretzinger that moved to the greater Baltimore area. I believe it was my dads and Roberts cousin and brother to Kenneth who passed about 7 or 8 years ago while still living in Bridgeport. I know his health was too bad to plan or attend his brother Kenny's funeral, so Robert made all of the arrangements.
Does any of this make sense, are you from that area?
I am waiting to hear from my aunt and sisters for more clarity.
Just got a email from a cousin who has done research: William D. Gretzinger, Chief of Police (known as Big Bill) in Bridgeport from 1927 - 1933 (He passed away in 1933 on the job). I have a very interesting article. I'll scan it and send it to you.
