Perhaps the following will be of interest to someone doing research on the Webb family. This is only an excerpt from a long article.

Manley Webb drowned in a yachting accident.

"Manley Webb, the sailing master, was a resident of Conneault, Ohio, and had been in Mr. [Commodore Kirkland C.] Barker's employ only since last fall. His age was about thirty years, and in September last he married. His young wife sits and gazes over the river at the spot where [he drowned]...."

The above was taken from the newspaper The Amherstburg Echo, Friday, May 28, 1875, page 1. Amherstburg is in Essex County, Ontario, Canada. Because of the circumstances of his death, there are articles on the yachting accident in subsequent issues of the newspaper.
