help sorting out Stephen Sliphers

I am trying to sort out several Stephen Sliphers in Butler County.

I can't decide if I have two or three in my Slifer/Slipher line.

The first is Stephen Slipher, b. 7 Jul 1779 in Virginia;
m. Elizabeth Flenner, 1802,
Hagerstown, Maryland;
d. 7 Apr 1868, Butler Co.,
Ohio.

From here, I have Ancestry family tree info about one or possibly two other Stephens, who I believe to be the son and grandson of the original Stephen:

-- One may have been born about 1821 and died 23 Sept. 1846. I only have family tree info about him.

-- The other (I believe the grandson) is listed by several Ancestry trees as being born in 1821, having married Mary Ohl in 1865, and having died 25 Dec 1917. There is documentary evidence for the death, and a newspaper article about his will being probated in January 1917 mentions his wife Mary.

It seems possible that birth dates for two later Stephens have been mixed together.

I'm trying to link one of these men to John Slipher, born about 1835. His father apparently died young.

I would appreciate any help,

Thank you,
Angelia Slifer
