CHARLES SMELTZ TAKEN BY DEATH Charles G. Smeltz, 86 a retired school teacher, died yesterday morning in an Exeter hospital. A native of Carrollton, Ohio, he had lived in Woodlake for the last ten months. Mr. Smeltz had been ill health for some time. Prior to moving to Woodlake, he and his wife, Mrs. Lucy Todd Smeltz, had lived in Long Beach for several years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Royal Neighbors in Granada, CO. In addition to his widow, he is survived by five sons, Charles D.Smeltz of Denver, Colo., Walter A. Smeltz of Avenal, Wallace W. Smeltz of Ventura, Robert D. Smeltz of Ventura and Harold T. Smeltz of Auburn; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Oliver of Ventura; two brothers, Ross and James Smeltz, both of Carrollton, Ohio; a sister Bessie Moore of Zanesville, Ohio; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Brooks Funeral Home in Woodlake. Burial will be in the Woodlake Cemetery. ************* Note: Lucy Todd Smeltz was the second of wife of Charles Grant Smeltz. First wife was Minnie Keairns Smeltz, m/o of all the children.
