Eloise Taylor Johnson, 99, of Urbana, Ohio passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana, Ohio.
She was born October 9, 1914 in Champaign County, Ohio, the daughter of Merrill S. and Amy (Duncan) Taylor.
She married Alfred T. Johnson, October 27, 1940 in the Urbana Presbyterian Church by Dr. Harry W. Barr. Her husband preceded her in death, October 20, 1986.
Eloise was a graduate of Salem High School and continued her education at Moore's Business College, Urbana, Ohio and advanced piano studies at Bowling Green, Ohio.
She was a former member of the Ohio Music Teachers' Association and taught piano in Bowling Green and Newark, Ohio before retiring to her former area.
While living in Newark, Ohio, she served as a Deacon at the Second Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Coterie Club and Newark Music Teachers' Association.
She was a member of the Urbana Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon, Elder and Flower Chairman. A member of the Women's Association and active in the Alethea Club.
She was the loving mother of one daughter, Myna Johnson of Columbus, Ohio who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Donna Earnhart and Carmen Taylor both of Urbana; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents; by her brothers, Wm. A. Taylor, Stanley R. Taylor and Fred D. Taylor; and her sisters, Pauline Bosart and Janette Warren Hitchings.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Mercy McAuley Center and Community Mercy Hospice for the constant and excellent care of Eloise.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 7, 2014 in the First Presbyterian Church, Urbana, Ohio with Rev. Kevin Horrigan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
Burial will follow in Kingscreek Cemetery.
