COSHOCTON: David James Lawrentz, 76, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at Lafayette Pointe on Sunday, November 18, 2012 with his family by his side.
He was born in Coshocton, Ohio on October 1, 1936, the son of the late Augustus and Helen (Bowers) Lawrentz.
David graduated from Coshocton High School in 1954.
On April 13, 1957 he married Carolee (Norris) Lawrentz who survives.
David worked as a mechanic at Auto Supply in Coshocton alongside his father, and then worked at AK Steel from which he retired after 39 years of service.
He was a member of the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church, and the American Quarter Horse Association.
David enjoyed horses, hunting, and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Carolee David is survived by his three sons, Jeffrey (Helen) Lawrentz of Streetsboro, Ohio, James David Lawrentz of the home, and Joseph A. (Stacy) Lawrentz of Fresno, Ohio; three grandchildren, Alexis Lawrentz, Aubrey (Brody) Fry, and Justin David Lawrentz; three step-grandchildren, Robert (Tory) Griffith, Clover Harris, and Joshua Arbogast; two sisters, Maxine (Jack) Graham of Colorado, and Virginia (Richard) Schafer of Granville, Ohio; one brother-in-law, David Norris; one sister-in-law, Joyce (Larry) Watson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Sue Hawthorne Norris; and one step-grandchild, Jeremy Griffith.
Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 6-8pm and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11:00am . Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
David struggled with Parkinson's Disease for the past 10 years, with his loving wife Carolee by his side as his sole caregiver, and therefore the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509 New York, NY 10018.
