CLEVELAND, OH – Mary Stecewycz, 90, formerly of Struthers, Ohio passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 9, 2013, at Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mary was born May 27, 1922, in Hlomcza, West Ukraine, a daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Krasniewycz Hankiwska, came to Struthers in 1950, and moved to Cleveland in 2007.
Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, a volunteer for the parish pyrohy project for 40 years.
Her husband, Michael Stecewycz, whom she married Aug. 18, 1945, died April 4, 1997.
Mary leaves two sons, Joseph (Hanna) Stecewycz of Groton, Mass. and Michael Stecewycz of Fort Washington, Md.; two daughters, Irene (Tom) Murphy of Fairfield, Iowa and Marika Samantha (Joe) DeGrandis of Cleveland, OH; and six grandchildren, Ed, David, Darla, Joey, Heather, and Lara, all who dearly loved their “Baba Marika.”
A brother and two sisters are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, OH.
Funeral services will begin at 11:15 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home and continue at noon at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 West Rayen Ave., Youngstown.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown,OH.
