I have identified the Masons in the Etna Burial Ground, Etna Twp., Licking Co. (from the Harrison and Etna Twps. [cemetery inscriptions] publication of the Johnstown Genealogy Society, 1971) as follows:

"Charles H. MASON, d. Feb 14, 1869, 27y.2m.10d." - son of Nelson and Elizabeth (MARSHALL) MASON, b. (4 Dec calculated from age) 1841 in MD. He was single on the 1860 Census and I have not found a marriage record for him.

"Elizabeth MASON (w. of John) d. Feb 28, 1868, 45y.3m.18d." - maiden name BISH. She married John MASON (b. abt 1814 in MD) on 25 Feb 1841 in Fairfield Co., OH.

"Elizabeth MASON (w. of N.) b. Jan 4, 1813, d. Dec 23, 1886" - maiden name MARSHALL and b. in England according to the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census records. She married Nelson MASON on 8 Oct 1833 in Baltimore Co., MD.

"Gertrude MASON, 1876-1940" - maiden name CLAYBAUGH. She married William Bish MASON, son of William & Lydia (BISH) MASON, on 9 June 1895 in Fairfield Co., OH. Full death date is 6 Sep 1940 according to her obit.

"John MASON, d. Feb 17, 1886, 73y.2m.6d." - he d. on 17 Feb 1888 according to the Licking Co., OH Death records (FHL film # 0384331). He was b. abt 1814 (pos. 11 Dec.) in MD and found residing in Violet Twp., Fairfield Co. in 1850, 1860 and 1870. Moved to Etna Twp., Licking Co. between 1870 and 1880. Husband of the above Elizabeth (BISH) MASON.

"Lloyd R. MASON, 1897-1913" - son of William Bish and Gertrude (CLAYBAUGH) MASON, b. 16 Aug 1897 according to his death certificate (Ohio Death Certificate #39404 for the year 1913). Full death date 5 July 1913.

"Lydia MASON, 1842-1923" - maiden name BISH. She married William MASON, son of Nelson and Elizabeth (MARSHALL) MASON, on 6 Feb 1862 in Franklin Co., OH. The Ohio Death Index has a Lydia MASON who died on 12 Feb 1923 in Licking Co. who is probably this person.

"Mary E. MASON (w. of L) d. Feb 16, 1875, 25y.4m.5d." - maiden name SWISHER, daughter of Philip & Cassandra (HUGHES) SWISHER [Centennial History of the city of Newark and Licking County, Ohio Vol. II by E.M.P. Brister]. She was the second wife of Lafayette MASON, son of David (b. abt 1817 in MD) and Rebecca (TAYLOR) MASON. Mary E. and Lafayette married about 1873, probably in Licking Co., OH.

"Nelson MASON, b. Dec 27, 1808, d. Oct 4, 1882" - b. in MD. Married Elizabeth MARSHALL on 8 Oct 1833 in Baltimore Co., MD and moved to Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., OH bet. 1847 & 1850. The book Methodism in Pickeington, O. 1812-1905 by H.E. Brill says Nelson MASON and Henry MASON (b. 1802 in MD & migrated to Violet Twp., Fairfield Co., OH sometime before 1832) were cousins.

"Rebecca MASON (w. of L) d. Feb 5, 1869, 26y.3m.2d." - she was the first wife of Lafayette MASON (see Mary E. MASON above). I do not know her maiden name or when/where they married. They had a son, Frank D. MASON, b. 6 Jan 1869 who married Eulalia GALBRAITH in Wood Co., OH.

"William MASON, d. Mar 9, 1897, 58y.7m.22d." - b. in MD, son of Nelson and Elizabeth (MARSHALL) MASON. Married Lydia BISH (see Lydia MASON above).

"William MASON, 1868-1949" - William Bish MASON, son of William & Lydia (BISH) MASON. His Ohio Death Certificate # 37801 for the year 1949 gives his birth date as 21 Dec 1868 and full death date as 19 June 1949. He married Gertrude CLAYBAUGH (see Gertrude MASON above).

Could you please tell me how I could get a copy of Lydia BISH MASON's obit on file at the Pataskala Library? Do they have any other Mason obits?
