Good morning...no Gantz Rd. has been closed and sold. It was truly a beautiful place. I loved it, but the cottages were full of asbestos, etc. When they closed the "children's home" they cottages were used as offices. I'm not sure who owns the land now.
The closed records were kept at the intake location. HOWEVER, they are in the process of moving to a new building. This will most likely put a major delay on any records we request.
At this time the address is 525 E. Mound St. however, that will change soon. I am simply going to call the main number and ask to speak to the supervisor in records. From there, I am going into the facility and sign a request to release info.
Remember, we have to show how we are related and why we want to know...the agency will not compromise confidentiality no matter how many centuries have passed. Also, as I posted earlier, not everyone is aware of those records or what they contain. When you are working non stop with the current records, there is no need for interest in a stack of old ledgers. I hope they turn them over to the historical society at some point.
