Eugenia "Jean" Vest, 76, passed away Sunday to live in her eternal heavenly home at 6 p.m. in Greene Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born to Hugh Morton and Lena (Hamilton) Adams in Sadieville, Ky., on July 4, 1923. A Mrs. Hamilton, Alma Wells and Anna Day were her guardians during her youth as well as the London, Ky., orphanage.
She was a member of Bethel Community Church and was once chairman of the Card Club, treasurer of Young at Heart Club, active in the church's Women's Club and a member of the prayer chain. She was also a Kentucky Colonels.
She is survived by husband Ira, whom she married Dec. 25, 1948, in the bride's home in Grassy Creek, Ky. Also surviving are son Larry Vest and his special friend Rachel of Indianapolis; daughter Sandy and husband Ed Duke of Jamestown; ex-daughter-in-law Mattie Vest, also of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Nathan Robinette and wife Karen of Dayton, Kevin Robinette of Jamestown, Derek Vest of Indianapolis, Eddie Duke of Jamestown, and DeAnne Edwards and husband Mike of Marietta, Ga.;Great-grandchildren, Jazzlyn Robinette, Jordan Vest, Destiny Moe, Dylan Edwards and twins Makayla and Kylee. Special friends Ben and Mattie Deaton, John and Connie Lockwood, Junior and Jean Davis, neighbors and many other close friends and church family also survive.
Visitation will be at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Community Church, 1020 Lower Bellbrook Road, with the Rev. John lockwood officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
