Here is William's obit:

I think this obit makes it likely that MLS919 is on target. In 1910 Louis J Crockett had a son William of the right age, a daughter Laura (the sister mentioned above) and a possible step-daughter who is not mentioned above.

I didn't have that particular message with me when I went to the library but I searched City directories for clues.
In 1906 there was a Louis J Crockett, glazier, boarding at 2609 Fenton Ave.

in 1916 LJ Crockett, confectioner lived at 2181 Central Av (same address given in the 1920 census).

In 1928 Louis J, confectioner is still at 2181 Central Ave. By this time William would be in his 20s and should be listed under his own name. There are three Williams, none at this address.

William D, porter, 2985 Gilbert Av.

In 1938 there is one Louis, he is Louis J but his wife is Mary. He is an insurance agent living at 2601 Bushnell.
There are four Williams.

William, truck driver, boards 2863 May Street (I suspect this is the one you want.)
William, married to Jeanette, fireman - home 1208 E 3rd, William, married to Laura, who is a porter living at 1150 Foraker ave. (This one was, I think, an adult living on Foraker ave in 1906.)

In 1943 Louis J, married to Mary E, is a supervisor living at 1519 Harrison Av and again we have four Williams, I'll list them all but I think the one you want is obvious.

William, married to Jeannette, fireman, 1208 Columbia Pkwy
William Jr, 1208 Columbian Pkwy
William D, married to Marian, driver Wm Lang & Sons, 127 Malvern Place

He was also driving for Wm Lang & sons in 1940, 41, and 42 but I didn't copy the rest of the Crocketts for those years and I didn't know the connection with Louis at that time so I wasn't looking for him.

The last one I checked was 1948. Louis was no longer listed. There are four Williams.

William E, married to Edith B, 6120 Alpha
and a Willy M, nurses aide.
