HILLIARD, Ohio: Imogene "Jean" Basinger 86, died peacefully in her sleep at Darby Glenn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hilliard, Ohio on June 18th, 2014.

She was born in McComb, Ohio (Hancock County) in 1928 to Louis and Hazel Butler.
She was one of seven children, who were all very close.

She met and married Leslie V. Basinger and they moved to Mansfield, Ohio where they started his dental practice raised their two children, Mary Ann and Ted.

After raising her children, she attended the Ohio State University and received her bachelors and masters degrees.
She then went to work for the Mansfield Business College and became director of the Mansfield Campus. She took this opportunity to make her students and faculty believe that anything was possible. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the State Board of Proprietary education for all of her great work with Business Colleges throughout the State of Ohio.

Jean enjoyed music, movies and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her sisters, Patricia Emerson (James) of Fostoria, Ohio, Evelyn McKean (Orlo) of Bradenton, Florida; her daughter, Mary Ann Basinger-Jackson (Albert) and grandson, Nathan Jackson, her son, Ted Basinger (Julie) and granddaughters, Samantha Jean Basinger, Sydney Lenore Basinger and grandson, Noah Harrison Basinger. She doted on all of her grandchildren and was so proud of all of them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Leslie Vernon Basinger; her sister, Mary Jacoby and her brothers, Alva Butler (Beth), Paul Butler (Louise), Eeso Butler (Betty).

She was about living life and wished not to have a funeral, so there will be a celebration of her life in the upcoming weeks.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jean Basinger Scholarship fund at Chase Bank.
