While doing research in a Louisville Ky Newspaper I came across the following concerning coalboats sunk during the Tornado of 21 May 1860...
M. Dravo & Son lost two boats, in charge of Wm. Dawson. Four of the crew were drowned, one of whom was Henry Ashby, of Jefferson County, Ohio, and another was Philip Whalan. The names of the others not known, as the books were lost.
This comes from page one of the "Louisville Daily Courier" dated 23 May 1860. Placed this here hoping to save someone a long search for the death of their ancestor.
