The Terry line I am researching was in New York in the early 1800's--moved to Ohio and then on to Indiana. I can't offer much but I do know that some folks went on the Erie Canal from New York to Ohio and Indiana and wound up in Canada for awhile.

1. REMUS TERRY was born Abt. 1795 in NY, and died Aft. 1850. He married MATILDA "JANE" PAUGH. She was born Abt. 1800 in NY, and died Aft. 1850.

Household # 1847: Remus Terry 55 year old male farmer with $800 in real estate born in New York, Jane Terry 50 year old female born in New York, and Abigail M. 16 year old female born in New York.

Notes for MATILDA "JANE" PAUGH:
Another family researcher identified Remus's wife as Jane Horton born 1794 in Fishkill, Dutchess Co NY and the mother of four children. Further research needs to be done.

2. HILINDA JANE2 TERRY was born 1828 in NY, and died Sep 27, 1898 in Elkhart IN. She married WILLIAM ARTHUR LE COUNT Feb 06, 1848 in Elkhart, IN1, son of JAMES LE COUNT and CASTILLA ALEXANDER. He was born Aug 12, 1824 in Ross Co OH, and died Aug 16, 1894 in Cromwell, IN.

Her name has been given in several forms: Hilandra J. Terry, Hylinda Jane,Mary Hilanda, and Mary Helinda Ferry.

Notes for WILLIAM ARTHUR LE COUNT:
Information received from Charles Le Count, great grandson of James LeCountSource: Alvrod's History of Noble County, IN p 357 gives info on James A. LeCount born 8-12-1824 in Cromwell IN. James and his wife lived in Koscuisko Co and stayed two years. They had thirteen children including two who died in infancy--sexes unknown.

1850 Census for Cromwell, Noble County, Indiana page 218B:
William Lecount 26 year old male farmer with $350 in real estate and born in Ohio, Hilinda Jane 22 year old female born in New York, and Zacriah 2 year old male born in Indiana.
