Mr. Lester J. Boyd age 88, of Newark, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).
He was born February 16, 1924 in Licking County, Ohio to the late Ray and Nancy (Priest) Boyd.
Mr. Boyd was the owner/operator of Boyd Oil and retired from the Bowerston Shale Co.
He was a member of the Hanover Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and a Deacon and was also a member of the Licking Valley Lions Club and the Licking Valley Heritage Society.
He enjoyed bowling and playing pool.
He is survived by three children, Alice (Dennis) Athey of Newark, Pamela (Steve) Abraham of Marengo, Ohio, Patricia (Scott) Wilson of Newark, OH; fourteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Frank) Rauck of Nashua, New Hampshire; son-in-law, Charles Hall of Newark, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther M. (Amos) Boyd, on July 28, 2011; and by two children, Mark Boyd and Lois Hall; and five brothers, Earl, Clarence, Willis, John and Eugene Boyd.
NEWARK: A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, at the Hanover Presbyterian Church, 732 North Main Street NE, Newark, Ohio with Rev. Charlsie Ramsey officiating.
Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6,2012 at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, Ohio and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
