John Hoopes (Feb. 20, 1837 - May 5, 1921) was the son of Daniel (c. 1802 - c 1880) and Rachel Chaunce/Chance (c. 1804 - ?) and the grandson of Ellis (Nov. 4, 1778 - Sept. 18, 1833) and Elizabeth King (1782 - March 20, 1850). His siblings were Isaac (c. 1827), Benjamin Franklin (Aug. 6, 1829 - March 5, 1890), Susannah (c. 1831), Jane (July 1832 - March 24, 1914), Ellis (March 21, 1839 - Sept. 14, 1923) and Joseph Marion (Oct. 12, 1850 - Nov. 7, 1940).
Naamon Hoops was the son of Ezra and Susanna Cooper. HIs siblings were Dennis, Daniel, Melvina, John M. (not the same as mine), Isabelle, Martha, Jacob Homer, and Albert C. He married Milcah Ann "Mitta" Goodin (c. 1839). Naamon's children were Franklin (1857 - ?, married Rose McCambridge), Burley (April 25, 1859 - June 2, 1859), Naamon Leroy, and LeRoy W. (b. Feb. 3, 1865).
Naamon's father George (March 23, 1754 - Nov. 23, 1833) was married to Orpha McCoy (May 4, 1759 - Oct. 16, 1846). George was the son of Abraham (June 12, 1713 in Westtown, Chester Co., PA - Sept. 15, 1795 in Edgemont, Delaware Co., PA) and Mary Williamson (Oct. 11, 1715 - ?). Abraham was the son of Daniel (May 27, 1672 in Skelton-in-Cleveland, Yorkshire, England - 1749, Chester Co., PA) and Jane Worrilaw (? - ca. 1746 in Chester Co., PA). Daniel, our common ancestor who emigrated to the U.S. as a child in 1683, is the patriarch of practically all Hoopes/Hoops in the U.S. He was the son of Joshua (Dec. 10, 1635 - 1732). Their lineage has been traced back through John (1598- Feb. 1, 1636), Robert (July 8, 1575 - Aug. 18, 1636), and John (1554 - April 22, 1608) to Robert Howpe (1518 - Aug. 23, 1570) of Yorkshire.
