All I meant was that Joesph may of have disappeared to USA with one son and left the other, maybe to find a better life and then sending for the remaining family but doesn't.
However from what you have found for me, does not support this and strengthens the fact that John came to America after all. Although when his birth was registered he did not have a middle name or initial. John was a common name amongst my family (Quigleys)as each generation had at least one son named John, so could be plausible and the names of parents match.
