Richard -
FYI:
Mary Ann CONNER, b. 1829 IN (daughter of Willoughby & Rachel CONNER). married Bryon L. HOYT on 9 May 1849 Jennings County. She is found in the 1850 & 1860 census of that county as follows:
1850 Census - Jennings Co., IN - Vernon TWP, (enum 9 Aug 1850), P. 340b:
Byron HOYT, age 29, Cooper, b. IN
Mary A. HOYT, age 22, b. IN
Alice HOYT, age 3/12, b. IN
**living next door is her sister, Nancy Jane and brother-in-law Isaac ARNEY.
1860 Census - Jennings Co., IN - Campbell TWP, Pg. 14:
CONOR, Willoughby, age 75, Farming, b. VA
CONOR, Rachel, age 64, b. VA
HOYT, Mary A., age 31, b. IN
HOYT, Ella, age 8, b. IN
HOYT, Charles, age 6, b. IN
HOYT, William, age 4, b. IN
HOYT, Frank, age 1, b. IN
Bryon HOYT fought in the civil war and his wife, Mary A. filed a pension on him (although I do not have the actual paperwork at hand).
Some time ago I remember reading another researcher state that Mary CONNER (dau. of Willoughby CONNER) married John PADGETT, then Philip DEEM. There was a marriage of (Mrs.) Mary PAGGETT to Philip DEEM recorded 1 Sept 1843 in Owen County, IN. This couple is found in the 1850 census as follows:
1850 Census – Owen County, Indiana, Franklin TWP, Household #341:
Philip Deam, age 36, b. VA
Mary Deam, age 34, b. TN
Drucilla Deam, age 12, b. IN
Sarah J. Padgitt, age 11, b. IN
James K.P., age 5, b. IN
As both women appear to be listed in 1850 census enumerated during the same month, separate counties, etc. I do not believe that they are one and the same.
