APACHE--Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, 17-Apr-1996 at the First United Methodist Church of Apache for Elvie Leola Bybee, 84, of Apache who died 13-Apr-1996 in Lawton, Comanche county, Ok. Officiating were the Rev. Johnny DeYong, pastor, and the Rev. Doyle Wilburn, assisting. Burial was in Apache's Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home of Apache.
Mrs. Bybee was born 05-Feb-1912 near Chiquilla Territory, Arkansas. She married Garland Bybee 10-Dec-1930 in Alfalfa, Ok. She came to Caddo county in a covered wagon as a child. She was converted to Christ in 1925 in Tishomingo, Ok. She moved to Apache in 1945. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School. She was a Future Homemakers of America mother and an avid weaver of rugs and a painter.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters; two granddaughters, Debra Hudgins and Nancy Monroe; and one son-in-law, David J. Monroe. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Laqueta Monroe of Lawton, Ok., Kaleta and Jim Hudgins, Marlene and Phillip London, and Carla and Jerry Huckleberry, all of Apache, Ok.; one son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Gayle Bybee of Apache; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Hazlelene Williams of Lawton, Ok., Willie Ruth Sims of Weatherford, Ok., and one brother, Volon Montgomery of Anadarko; and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
