OBITUARY
Parren Emanuel Sample
Parren Emanuel Sample was born in Union County, Indiana, December 16, 1847 and died at his home southwest of Darrouzet, Texas at 4:45 o'clock on Tuesday morning, June 30, 1931, aged 83 years, 6 months and 14 days.
Until reaching manhood he resided in the above county and married Miss Mary Jane Smith on December 29, 1870. To this union were born two chldren, John Russell, who resides south of Shattuck, and Myrtle, who passed away in 1919.
Moving with his family to southeastern Kansas in 1881, he resided there until 1902, when he moved to Ellis County, living on a farm south of Shattuck, until recently he moved to a farm southwest of Darrouzett, Texas.
Surviving, in addition to the widow and son, is a brother, Josephus Sample, College Corner, Ohio, six grandchildren, ten great - grandchildren, besides a host of other friends and relatives.
Services were conducted at the Christian Church in Shattuck at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, July 1, by Rev. Al Barker. Pickett & Callaway were in charge.

Mrs Maude Sample, of south of town, who has been in feeble health for a long time, her ailment finally developing into a case of nephritis died Tuesday morning. Deceased was an aunt of Dick Sample, well known to Shattuck people.
I don't understand this as ELLIS COUNTY CEMETERIES listed the graves in order [I thought] and she is listed next to
him. I'll check it out the next time I'm in Shattuck.
