In the fall of 1924, Fannie McCollum Melton and her four young children were found murdered in their Greer Co. farm home. Fannie's husband, James L. Melton, returned from Mangum to find his wife and children with their throats cut neatly laid out in their home. Officials ruled the deaths to be murder/suicide. The five victims are buried in the Martha, OK cemetery. Rumors circulate that James Melton confessed to the murders years later on his death-bed. Seeking information that would confirm or refute these rumors. Also would like information on where James L. Melton moved after the death of his family.
