Is there anyone here that has history info on Logan county? Al or Allison maple is my great grandfather. I am working hard on my family tree and I have most of that side telling lies that I am not sure what is the truth or not.
But the story goes sometime in the 30's he shot a nam. His wife Bertha (pierce who we found out was not but was pearson) had cheated on him. I am guessing several times and did leave kids here and there.
I am also looking for Emmanuel Pearson.
Thank you

Should you have info on the Ploegers I sure would love to have anything which you may have.

Thanks: Donald A Frank

My great-grandmother, Hassie Proffitt, was a teacher at the Lone Star School (School Dist #33) in Logan County from 1928-1931. I am attaching some photos of her's here as well as her teaching contract. There are also some photos of her, her sister, and her friends. If anyone can identify anyone not already identified in these photos, please let me know. Luckily, some are labeled. If anyone knows exactly where the Lone Star school was located, please let me know. I believe her parents lived in Crescent for awhile, so I'm not sure if the school was there or not. My grandmother seems to think it was.

I am surprised the historical society would not photocopy it for you, for a nominal fee. If they have it, then the state archives probably does. The state archives which I have used will do lookups and photocopying for a reasonable fee and copying expense. You can check its website and see what it offers in the way of research lookups.

I realize this is an old query and you've probably gotten beyond your request but just in case, I suggest begin reading on how to conduct genealogy research...your request is very basic and the information is readily available to you. You can access census information for free if your local library has the library version of Heritage Quest and offers PIN numbers to access it from home. Or if it has Ancestry, you can access it at the library computers. Also, Ancestry gives 2 weeks free trial membership which gives access to census images at home. I think you have not gotten a response is because the general thinking is that unless you learn how to do the initial steps youirself, you won't know how to do further work...so you may as well learn from the start. Most people are able to do their own census work fairly easily as far back as 1850, plus many other legal and war records. Genealogy books or tutorials on genealogy websites will explain how to do this. There is also much information how to search for Native American ancestry.

Also, you mentioned that the dates were given. If you are referring to the two dates beside the names in your posting, these are probably the time period covered by the particular marriage record book referenced. You probably figured this out but I wanted to make sure you realized this.

You can also try checking OK state gov website for what years the state vital stats has marriage records. It is possible they have copies of marriage records that old, altho not likely. If so, you can write the state for them. As I said, usually the marriage records are at the county courthouse.

Your best bet to also get a copy of the actual certificate is to check with the Family History Center in Salt Lake (website) and if they have it, order the film through a local LDS church's FHC. These microfilms usually have the actual marriage certificate as well as the index. The OK state archives probably has it, too. Check their website as well.

Hi Beth,

I hope all is well?

I did some digging and found that both John & Orlando Lovell were both married to "Minnie's". It seems likely that Orlando's wife, Minnie Moore, was the one who had the bible, and remarried. With the entries from O.A. Lovell in the bible, this being Orlando.

Take care, and email me if or when you may get a chance.

Dan

oh my goodness. well the abbreviation looks like a D or O and then and LL. So I looked up a Sandwich, Illinois and sure enough it exists. I would be happy to give the book to you considering how much it probably means now. It's a very beautiful little children's book. I think I also see a signature from a Scott Harrod and a Dorothy Harrod.

I just checked the back of the book and it indeed says Sandwich, Illinois. Also c/o Brad (maybe?) Harrod.

Hi! I just got back from a local book sale and picked up a children's book belonging to a Ms. Cornelia Harrod. It's dated November 23, 1907 and she must have been about 6 or 7 when she owned it. The town is Sandwich...something. I can't make out the abbreviation of the state. If any of this sounds familiar please reply!

I found a snippet in our local newspaper for 1911 that his father (Joseph A. Snider) was in our area visiting one son and then was "heading to Guthrie to visit his son, C.R." so I know he was still alive in 1911.

Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated. I found on the Logan County Genweb site marriages for Charles R., Ethel, and Myrtle but just gives a 2 year date period and page and book numbers and I am not sure how to find the actual information...

I am mainly looking for death dates/obits/burial places for Charles R. and Hannah/Lizzie...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Juls

I have checked the website for Logan County on marriages in this county. The information is very limited. I need to locate a marriage record for Pleasant Harmon Finley and Dorothea Rasmussen for the year 1911 or 1912. Can some one help me with an address to write, or website to search?
Thanks!
Ida

Quaker Families Near Guthrie

I am trying to trace a young man named Roy Ham. Roy was placed with children's home in Guthrie Ok in July 1905 and was placed with a Quaker family in August.

Roy was born in 1892, don't know exactly when. I am looking for information on Quakers in the area. Maybe his joining this family was recorded in the local monthly meeting notes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Logan County Marriages

I am not from OK but have much experience in searching marriage records of other states. The marriage records are recorded on the county level and are listed in marriage books at the county courthouse. Few courthouses do searches of older records, due to time constraints, but do have the records available for the public. If you live in OK, there is likely a published book of marriages at most local libraries with historical sections, or the state archives. Also, the LDS-FCH often has these records on microfilm for short-term rental at a nominal fee.

Sounds like you might benefit from obtaining a book on basic genealogy research or reading some basic research tutorials online. These readings will explain how to access various legal records, what libraries have, how to utilize the vast records that are made available on microfilm to the (local) public through the LDS church. It is most helpful to read what you can on conducting research before you begin. There is much to learn about how to go about doing research. Good luck.

My Cornelia Harrod was born Nancy Cornelia Beasley in Illinois in 1850's and died in Oklahoma in about 1936. She might have had a descendant or niece named for her but would probably have been in Oklahoma. You mention a "local" book sale. What state?
There is a Sandusky in Oklahoma, but Sandwich doesn't ring a bell and my Cornelia married a Mr. Watts after Mr. Harrod died.
