He married Ruth Cox and they had at least 3 children: Grace, Juanita, and Eugene. I am interested in locating an obituary for him and or his wife; however, I do not know when she died. I would especially like to find out who his parents were.

Hello,

I made an attempt to locate additional info on your aunt Goldie, but have hit some snags; as I see have you. Did she have a name other than Goldie? One of my husbands aunts; as example; nickname was Goldie, but her given name was Golda, another family members name was Geraldine, but she too went by Goldie.

I did locate the "Rite-A-Way Cafe"; now known as the "RITE-WAY CAFE" in Blanchard. I called but they had closed for the evening. Their phone number is (405) 485-2287, their address is HI-76, Blanchard, OK 73010.

Many such cafe's may have changed owners, but they are an intregill part of country life, even if they now are in the middle of downtown. If you contact the owners or manager, they may well have photos of the cafe in the 60's and perhaps your aunt as well. I'll check OK business info and get back with you as to who owns it today.

Your are welcome.

What had me thinking they were father and son or Uncle and nephew, were the dates.

Your Zole Coffee Woods dates are b:1832 and d:28 APR 1884. The Zole J. Woods I found was allowed to practice law in Indian Territory in 24 OCT 1895; implying he was relitively young, possibly just having been admited to the bar.

There weren't any lawyers for the tribes; that I know of; prior to 1890. I'll do some more digging and see what I can find.

Evelynne,

Thank you so much, the Zolecoffee Woods you mentioned is most likely him. We have found many different spellings of his name. I have no idea if he ever had any children and heard from a distant relative that he died in Arkansas. I have searched the cemeteries in that county in AR and can't find a trace of him which could just mean it's unmarked. I appreicate you efforts in helping me and look forward to any future posts.
I saw your query and attempted to locate any info I could. What I found deals with a Zolecoffee Woods, but not the person you mentioned.

In a copy of the newspaper the "Daily Ardmorite" [no longer in circulation] dated 24OCT1895 is a referance to "a" ZOL WOODS:

"ZOL J. WOODS was admitted to practice in the courts in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) today, having passed a most satisfactory examination before the committee appointed for that purpose."

The Daily Ardmorite was published in Ardmore, Pickens (now Carter) County, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory.

It is highly possible the Zol and Mary Virginia Woods you mentioned were the parents of Zol J. Woods.

I will try and look up the info for the younger Woods and see which tribe he may have represented at the time.

He was an attorney who worked with the Cherokee Nation from the legal papers I have found. He was married in McAlister, OK to a Mary Virginia Cowan in 1889.
I am looking for graves of GGrandparents, Harvey H and Sarah F Pickens, Hillside cemetary. Someone had a list on the internet of that cemetary and saw their names. Are these any researchers near there that could take a photo or give me dates. I think it was plot 354. Buried sometime between 1920 and 1930 probably, There were both born around 1845. I am also searching for their some James Harvey Pickens, born 1876 in Texas. They were all in the 1920 McClain census in Purcell. He left the family and his sone, my granfather raised his siblings and took care of mother, Viola Alice Lindell Davidson( wife to James Harvey) This last group moved to florida by 1930, Harvey and Sarah died there I beleive in Purcell between 1920 and 1930.
Any help would be greatkly appreciated.
I am 50 years old and Blanchard, McClain, OK is my Hometown. I remember Goldie Potter.

My Grandmother Bertha Mae Taylor (1899 - 1984) worked at the Rite Way Cafe for many years. I often went in there in the 60's & 70's. (Brightwell's may have owned it after Goldie did. I have a photo of my Grammie while at work there)

I don't have any further info however I live about 20 miles from Blanchard and could help locate some contacts there.

Apparently Elizabeth & Tom Blackburn are buried in the Blanchard Cemetery.

Here is a bit of data that I located on her family.

Hope it helps

Kathy Taylor Spivey
kathyspivey@sbcglobal.net
----------------------------------------------
Blanchard Cemetery, Blanchard, McClain County Oklahoma

http://files.usgwarchives.org/ok/mcclain/cemeteries/blanchar...

Blackburn, Elizabeth -- Mar 1867 - -- Jun 1957

Blackburn, Thomas -- Feb 1869 - -- Nov 1943

---------------------------------------

1920 United States Federal Census
about Underwood Gore
Name: Underwood Gore
Home in 1920: Victor, McClain, Oklahoma
Birthplace: Arkansas
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's Name: Goldie
Father's Birth Place: Kentucky
Mother's Birth Place: Kentucky
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Male
Home owned: Rent
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 524
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members:
Name Age
Underwood Gore
Goldie Gore 25
Eugene Gore 1 2/12
------------------------------------

1920 United States Federal Census
about Goldie Gore
Name: Goldie Gore
Home in 1920: Victor, McClain, Oklahoma
Age: 25 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1895
Birthplace: Missouri
Relation to Head of House: Wife
Spouse's Name: Underwood
Father's Birth Place: Vermont
Mother's Birth Place: Illinois
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Female
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes

------------------------------

1920 United States Federal Census
about Eugene Gore
Name: Eugene Gore
Home in 1920: Victor, McClain, Oklahoma
Age: 1 year 2 months
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1918
Birthplace: Oklahoma
Relation to Head of House: Son
Father's Name: Underwood
Father's Birth Place: Arkansas
Mother's Name: Goldie
Mother's Birth Place: Missouri
Marital Status: Single
Race: White
Sex: Male
Image: 524

-------------------------------------
World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Name: Underwood Gore
City: Not Stated
County: McClain
State: Oklahoma
Birthplace: Arkansas;United States of America
Birth Date: 12 Apr 1888

---------------------------------

Underwood Gore
M:
Goldie Potter
Son:
Leslie Eugene Gore
Birth: 22 Oct 1920
Blanchard, OK
Death: Dec 16, 1982
Dry Prong, LA
M:
Mary Fletcher
Birth: 2 Dec 1922
Monroe, LA
Death:
Alexandria La

1 Gore Son
M: Horner

1 Gore Son
M: Aragon
1daughter 2 sons

2 Gore Son
1 Gore Daughter

----------------------------------------

1920 United States Federal Census
about W Omar Potter
Name: W Omar Potter
Home in 1920: Goldsby, McClain, Oklahoma
Age: 36 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1884
Birthplace: Tennessee
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's Name: Willa J
Father's Birth Place: Tennessee
Mother's Birth Place: Tennessee
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Male
Home owned: Rent
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 286
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members:
Name Age
W Omar Potter 36
Willa J Potter 28
William A Potter 2/12
Lena R Johnson 54

----------------------------------------------

I am looking for information on Carl Crowder or his descendents. He lived in or around Blanchard, McClain County, Oklahoma at one time. He had 3 daughters and was related to the McCreary family who also lived in the area at one time. If anyone has any information on Carl or his descendents, I would appreciate hearing from them.
Thank you!

Thank you so much.

I have Lucinda's family and parents, but, if there is additional info listed on James Rance Wallace I would like to have the info. I would also like a listing of their children (and spouses) if listed.

I have some info gathered from census records, but, it is hard for me to get a complete picture of this family.

Some of the sons were outlaws, and while I can find some info online, the articles quickly turn to the more famous names leaving me lacking on the Wallaces.

By chance does it mention James Ransom Wallace's parents?

Thanks so much.
Pam Cain
