Virginia Lackey
1933-2007
Virginia Lackey, 74, passed away Sept 28, 2007, Friday, at the Solara Hospital, Muskogee. She was born Mar 22, 1933 in Ada, OK to Herbert Guy and Georgia Viola (Phelps) Herron. She was raised with three older brothers and one sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers George and Haskell, and her sister at an early age, Alma. She was a homemaker and loved to sew when time allowed. Virginia and Harold were well known by the business they managed in the Council Hill area for over 20 years. "Lackey's Grocery and Gas Station", also known as Lackey's "Y". After retirement they got to spend more time together with something they both enjoyed, fishing.
She leaves behind a family that will deeply miss her. Her husband, Harold Gene of the home; daughters Donna and her husband Jessy Ray Highfill of Council Hill, Pamela and her husband Newell Applegate of Wichita, KS; 3 grandchildren, Jessy Ray Jr. and his wife Kari, Jody Ray Highfill, and Stacie Lorraine and her husband Kevin Kultgen; 3 great grandchildren, Jessica Dawn Highfill, Jordan and Jaden Kultgen; a brother, Dwayne Herron and his wife Lavada of Longtown, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services for Virginia will be Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at 10:00 am in the First Baptist Church, Checotah with Rev. Steve Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers, Bill Willmon, Newell Applegate, Bill Davidson, Jim Biles, A.D. Stone, Marshal Nixon.
