Amos Rutledge Gibbs
Services for Amos Rutledge Gibbs, lifelong resident will be at 2:30 P.M., Friday in the 13th and Josephine Church of Christ with Bert Robertson officiating. He will be assisted by Wayne Zuck of Stanton, TX. and Eddie Lee. Burial will be in the Frederick Cemetery under the direction of Dalton - McLellan Funeral Home. Gibbs died at 11 A.M., Wednesday in Tillman County Memorial Hospital at Frederick following a brief illness of two weeks. Born January 27, 1906 in Tillman County, he was the son of W.R. and Mary Jeanette Gibbs. Gibbs received his education in the Tillman County Schools and graduated from Wilson High School. A prominent farmer and rancher in Tillman County, he was a member of the 13th and Josephine Church of Christ. He married the former Edith McCollum Dec. 23, 1924 at Frederick. Survivors include his wife, Edith, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Jimmie Jean) Raley of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Bill (Margia Rene) Shelton of Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Mrs. Bernie Delaney, Mrs. Joe (Minnie) Peters and Mrs. Barney (Lora) Etter all of Frederick and Mrs. B. (Addie) Wages of Oklahoma City and five granddaughters.
