Descendants of John W. Smith and Sarah A. ?

I am searching for descendants of:

Jerome D. Smith, Sr., b. abt. 1830 in South Carolina and Mary Elizabeth Burns b. abt 1839 in Alabama.
William H. Triplett, b. abt. 1832 in South Carolina and Jerusha Burns, b. abt 1839 in Alabama.

Mary Elizabeth Burns and Jerusha Burns are daughters of John W. and Manerva Burns. John W. Burns was born abt. 1812 in South Carolina, and Manerva was born abt 1820 in South Carolina,

My hope is that some of their descendants can shed some light on the fate of John W. and Manerva Burns.

John W. and Manerva Burns were in Pontotoc County, Mississippi in 1850, Nacogdoches County, Texas in 1860, and Rusk County, Texas in 1870. They vanished between 1870 and 1880, along with their younger children, William, George, John, Roxana and Bethena.

I am descended from their daughter Manerva Lucinda Burns, who married Moody Valentine Holleman. They remained in Rusk County, Texas, although she died in 1878.

Jerome D. Smith, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Burns were in Nacogdoches county, Texas in 1860, and in Rusk County, Texas in 1870 and 1880. Mary Elizabeth died between 1880 and 1890. Jerome D. Smith, Sr. remarried, to Sarah E. McGuire on 24 Sep 1890. They remained in Rusk County, Texas until at least 1910.

Some of Jerome D. Smith, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Burns' descendants moved to Central Texas, others to Oklahoma and California.
Jerome D. Smith, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Burns' son Elijah Dolphus Smith and family were in Mills County, Texas in 1900, and in Kern County, California in 1910.
Jerome D. Smith, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Burns' son Calvin M. Smith and family were in Mills County, Texas from 1910 until at least 1930.
Jerome D. Smith, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Burns' son John W. Smith and family were in Washita County, Oklahoma, Elk Township, in 1900.

William H. Triplett and Jerusha Burns were in Leake County, Mississippi in 1860 and 1870, and in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana in 1880 and apparently stayed in that area.

Descendants of John W.
Howard family in Washita County (Port, Dill City, Cloud Chief)

I am requesting any known info (either documented or memory) re: the Cornelius Clark & Mary Jane (Greenwell) Howard family that came from Missouri to Chickasaw Nation, IT, about 1875, then eventually settling in Port about 1892. Their children who survived to adulthood were Sarah F. Winters b.1861(my g-g-grandmother, m.John Wm. Winters & lived in Warren, Jackson, OK), Tom b.1865, Wm.Price b.1869, Robert Searcy b.1876, John b.1880, Josie Mae Kirk b.1882 (lived in Snyder), Joseph Augustus "Gus" b.1885, & Charlie Thomas b.1888. The last three would have been children in Washita County, while the others were already on their own. I think I have heard of a grocery store, maybe in Dill City. If any memories or county history bios are available to share, please let me know, or whom I may contact for further info.

My sincerest thanks,
Amy
jeffsouthall@cox.net

From the Medford (OR) Mail Tribune 08-19-2007 at www.mailtribune.com

Photo included

Delbert (Del) M. Orgain passed away on August 16, 2007. He was born July 13, 1916, to Eb and Lydia Orgain of Canute, Okla.. He was raised on a Oklahoma farm, driving four head of mules and plowing by the age of six. His love of horses continued for the remainder of his life.

Del married Doris Brooks (Forbes) in 1938. They had three childred, Carl, Loretta and Lydia. They would leave the family farm, moving to Oregon in 1943. His marriage to Doris ended in divorce in 1955, and later remarried to Faye Fanger. Del lived largely in the Rogue and Illinoise Valleys over the years where he raised his family. He worked in local sawmills, drove a greyhound bus, owned and operated a service station in Prospect, Ore., worked as a cold storage operator, and after retirement, bought and sold cattle through out the local areas.

After the death of his wife, Faye, in 1999, Del moved from Cave Junction, Ore., to Medford, Ore., where he continued to enjoy working with his horses. He actively participated in cow penning and gymkhana, competition in Gold Hill, Ore., at the Estremado Arena until he was 88 years old. When his knees wouldn't allow him to ride any longer, he hooked a two wheel cart to his paint mare and still competed in the gymkhana at the age of 90.

He is survived by daughters, Loretta Heath Molano (Oscar) of Central Point, Ore., Lydia Graham (Bruce) of Shelton, Wash., foster son, Bill Johnston (Carol McKee) of Roseburg, Ore., sister Della Mae Jones (Glen) of Canute, Okla., brother Murray Orgain of Canute, Okla., daughter-in-law Marjorie Orgain of Virginia Beach, Va., 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye, son Carl R. Orgain and grandson Terry Orgain.

Del never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere and as a result of this, had many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family wants to thank Steve and Beverly Strauss for being the greatest neighbors in the world and for all the help they have given Dad since he moved to Medford. Also thank you to the staff at Hearthstone Nursing Home for the care they provided over the past month.

Services will be 11:00a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at Siskiyou Memorial Park. 2100 Siskiyou Boulevard, Medford, Ore..

Memorials may be sent to your favorite charity.

Published in the Mail Tribune on 8/19/2007.
Looking for decedents of Frank Sanders b. 2/22/1884 in Bartholomew, Indiana. Frank was married twice, first to:

Lucille Schaffenberg (daughter of Charles and Jeanette) on 12/20/1911 in Greer Co.

They had three boys:

Laverne F b. 2/1915 Greer Co
Elroy R b. 1/26/1917 Greer Co
Noble W b. 5/9/1920 Kern Co. CA

As you can see they moved to CA between 1917 and 1920 where Noble was born. Lucille died by 1925 when Frank married Ora E Wood (daughter of Ollie and Laura Wood) on 2/27/1926 and they had at least one more child:

Leon b. 1/1928 Elk, Washita Co.

1930 census in Washita is the last known info on this family.

Frank is the child of John and Margaret (Miller) Sanders who settled in Indiana after the war. John was born to Thomas Sanders in Adair, KY who was the son of James Sanders. I'm working on the tree for James Sanders and need to find a few decedents to fill in the details.

Thanks,

Jon Sanders

Perhaps more came with, as he had several children. Would like to know more about this family.
Peg Spencer

Looking for any info on my grandfather's 1st wife. Grandfather was Omus Burnial Williams b. 12 Nov 1895 in Texas, moved to Washita Co with his parents before he was 5 years old. He and his first wife were divorced before his WW1 draft registration, filed in Washita Co., on which he lists that he is divorced but responsible for the support of two children.
My mother thinks her first name was Judy or Judith, last name was Peck. Their two sons were Ralph and ? (mom says Billy, aunt says Bob).
Omus later remarried to Molly Edith McNiece, and had three children with her before she died. He then married again to Virgie Verna Willis, also of Washita Co, not telling her of his previous divorce or dependent children.
I have NO info on the Peck family and very little on the McNiece family.

We are looking for any information on these lines that were in the Tulsa area or Sandsprings area of Oklahoma. Thank you

My request is somewhat unique. I have'nt seen my father since I was taken away from him in 1976, and I'm trying to get information on his parents.

Anyway, his name is Jerry William Erwin, born in Sentinal in 1938, and his parents were William(?) & Ruby Erwin. William Erwin died around 1940, and Ruby never remarried. My father grew up in Sentinal, and went to public school there all 12 years, graduating H.S. in 1957. I have personally verified this info, having lived with my grandmother in Sentinal for several months during 1976.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
