My friends grandmother is Mabel Acton. She is in the Arkansas census in 1900 and 1910 with Charles Acton. In the book by Glenn Shirley it says that Charles and Pearl are the ones who picked Belle Starr up out of the road after whe was shot and loaded her in the wagon. I have a death record, funeral home receipt, and obit. that says that Belle Starr is Charles Acton mother. I am wondering if Acton is the name of his father, or is this the name of the people who raised him??? Mabel often talked about babysitting Pearl's children. She also had a hand painted picture of Belle Starr that hung in her house until the day she died. She also named her children just like Pearl named her children? Charles Acton was born when Belle Starr was 16 yrs old. I would love to hear from anyone who has any other information on this.
