I have a biography of a cousin published in 1974 which states he was buried at the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Waynoka. I haven't been able to find a match for that name in several cemetery listings, and am guessing that the name has been changed. I would very much appreciate knowing the current name of the cemetery. Thank you!

I am looking for more information on a Frank Elgin who was farming at Stone Township, Woods County in the 1900 Census.
He was born 1875 in Centerville Iowa. The rest of the family was farming in Payne County and moved to Claresholm Alberta Canada in 1903. Frank was supposed to be left behind in an institution. Not sure if it was a jail or mental institution. I have not found any land records or what happened. Thank you very much for any information.
Don Brosius

Daughter Blanch married Louie Frances Woods in 1894 and they had two children Sophie and Frances Louis. They separated and eventually divorced sometime between 1900 and 1905 while residing in St. Louis Mo. some of the family lived in Kirkwood and some in St. Louis Blanch remarried John H. McDonald and resided in Wheeling, WV with the children, Frances Louis being my grandfather. I want to know what happened to Louie, my great grandfather I can't trace him past the 1910 census and he would have been in his 40's then No one would ever speak of him so the family knows nothing.

My friends grandmother is Mabel Acton. She is in the Arkansas census in 1900 and 1910 with Charles Acton. In the book by Glenn Shirley it says that Charles and Pearl are the ones who picked Belle Starr up out of the road after whe was shot and loaded her in the wagon. I have a death record, funeral home receipt, and obit. that says that Belle Starr is Charles Acton mother. I am wondering if Acton is the name of his father, or is this the name of the people who raised him??? Mabel often talked about babysitting Pearl's children. She also had a hand painted picture of Belle Starr that hung in her house until the day she died. She also named her children just like Pearl named her children? Charles Acton was born when Belle Starr was 16 yrs old. I would love to hear from anyone who has any other information on this.

Is he buried next to or with a wife, children, etc.? Are there other Parsley family members listed?

I am trying to find out as much as possible so that I can check to see if there was an obituary in a local paper.

I am looking for any info on my family who settled in Alva Oklahoma around 1898. The family consisted of Fred and Louise Ertmoed and there 4 sons, Alle, Harry, Ike and Ben. They came from Pekin Illinois.

In the 1900 census Fred, Louise and Ike are living in Alva and Alle and Harry are out in Liberty township. According to some church records I have from Canada, they were all baptized into the Blumenfeld Mennonite Church in Alva Oklahoma in the year 1900 by Christian Ramseier. Does anyone know anything about this church??? They lived in the Alva area until 1905 when they migrated to Canada.

I am also interested in getting the land records for the family. Is 1898 to late to be part of the Cherokee Strip land???

Mike Ertmoed

Seeking information about Dr. Albert Lee Stanley, vetenarian, son of Preston J. and Susan J. (English) Stanley, who practiced c 1910-1930+ in Major, Woods and Alfalfa counties, Oklahoma. Dr. Stanley was born probably in 1866 in Doniphan county, Kansas. His last known practice location was Aline, Alfalfa county as noted in 1930 US census. He was married multiple times but wives names are unknown, except Ella (?), Alma (?) and possibly Alice L. Richer. Ella moved to California by 1930 with two children or Lawrence Lee and Clyde M. Stanley...indicating a possible divorce. Did he have other children? Did he die near Cleo Springs, Major county? Thanks.

Family in Avard

I am looking for the families of three sisters apparently from Avard, early to mid 1900's. Amina Rainsburg (this is her married name) Cora Ferguson and Maggie Morris. I have no idea whether the last two are listed with their married names or maiden names. Amina married David Andrew Rainsburg around 1907, he was the Guthrie, OK station agent for the Rock Island Railroad, and Amina moved to Guthrie with David. They built the house that we now live in, and lived here til 1918. David died 1940, Amina died in 1945- they had no children, and she left her estate to Maggie and Cora. At the time, both sisters were apparently still residents of Avard. What I am looking for are descendents of Cora and Maggie with hopes of finding more information and possibly pictures of David, Amina and/or early pictures of our house. I would appreciate any info- thanks in advance.

I am looking for a Silas Turner (I found in 1900 US Census already) who lived in Cleo Township in 1900 with his 2nd wife Alice and his four children: Clarence (bn 1889), Belle (bn 1884), Irwin (bn 1887, Bertie (bn 1891). All the children were born in Oklahoma, I believe in Woods county. I am trying to find out his first wife's name who probably died between 1891 and 1895, possibly during childbirth, and birth informaiton for the children. Marriage records for Silas are also needed. He married again around 1908 to Elma and they lived in 1910 South Cement, Caddo County. I believe he died before 1920.

Can you help me in any research ??? Lookup death records, Obit, History any bits of info. All I have to go on is this.

William H. BALTZLEY d. April 16, 1910 buried Wynoka Okla.

BALTZLEY, William H. born 1856 Henry Co. IA. married 1881 Emma B. TUCKER born 1863 death 1938 buried IA.

Yes, I'm hoping my spelling of Wynoka is a typo. As it's found in a book published abt. 1935 on Wm. H. BALTZLEY lines back to Switz. 1750's.
The only other town that looks close to Wynoka spelling is Wynona OK., Osage Co., help to clear this up is appreciated and welcome.. If your a link or know any bits on this line
Please contact me. As Wm. H. BALTZLEY's death in OK is totally out of the bounds or logic, as any family that I know of from direct family lines are all in Iowa since 1850
The only other notes I have on Wm. H. BALTZLEY is that he was Painter. Only other clues that might play into this Mystery is his mother's name of HOBBS, Mary Ann married 1847 OH. to {his father} Jacob BALTZLY/BALTZLEY b. 1825 OH. a carpenter by trade both Mary Ann & Jacob are buried in IA. abt. 1916. There's family lore of Native American Blood lines maybe wife Emma B. TUCKER {b. 1863 m. 1881 d. 1938 buried IA. near her daug. {My grandmother}..or {My gg-grandmother} Mary Ann HOBBS families. I have very little info. on these gals.
Any help with lookup or verification of this info. especially in Okla. or any area's I have mentioned. I would appreciate very very much.. I can offer exchange of help in California area perhaps.. Thanking in advance for any Help, Suggestions or Insight for my long distance researching efforts.. Contact: P.WOODWARD, e-mail, or P.O.

I have a Edward ATKINSON, age 32 in 1900 census for Woods county, Stella Twp. He is married to a Amelia OWEN, age 25 and they have one child, Lola Owen, age 8 born Kansas. Can anyone find out more than that about this family? Were they there in 1910? Were they buried there? Any info appreciated as the above 1900 census data is all I have. Thanks and a favor may be repayed with a lookup in Tennessee if needed.

Our Uncle and aunt were Rev (Baptist) Odis Conner born about 1909 and wife Karen, who was cherokee and went by the nickname of Dude. They had 3 daughters, 2 of which were Wilma Sue and Judy ( who has passed away) If anyone has any information about the 2 remaining sisters or where their parents and sister were buried, the rest of the Conner cousins would greatly appreciate it. We have not talked or seen them in over 40 years. The original Conner siblings are all gone so it is up to the cousins to pull the family together. Thanks in advance!

I am looking for descendants of Williamson Hays born December 10, 1847 in IN and his wife Rachel Temperance Porter-Hays, born October 3, 1858 in Lincoln Co., MO. I know Rachel (and possibly Williamson) moved to Waynoka, Woods Co., OK sometime between 1895 and 1921, and I know Rachel died in Waynoka July 24, 1945. I don't know the death date or death place for Williamson, so it's possible he died before his family moved from Kansas to Oklahoma. Their known children were Susie Grace Hays, Howard Constantine Hays, Frieda Abigail Hays, Rutherford Birchard Hays, and Neal Donley Hays. All of their children were born in Turon, Reno Co, KS. I'm also interested in any historical information surrounding this family in Waynoka, Woods Co., OK.

I am looking for a wedding date or certificate for Nem Wesley England and Blanche Viola Munger in Woods county abt 1906, 07 or 08. She was about 20 and he was 32 years old. Blanche's brother Claude Munger lived in Alva with his wife Clara. I am wondering if they got married in Woods county because her family lived in Harper Co. Kansas and I've exhausted all research in Kansas and now am looking in Oklahoma. Her wedding picture says 'Alva OK' from the photographers stamp. Nems' family lived in Enid OK and that is where his wedding picture was taken.
Can someone tell me when and where they were married? This couple moved around a lot it seems..lol

I believe that Willie who died in or around 1984 in or around Alva, Woods Co., Ok is somehow related to a Johnnie Beevly and a Keith Beevly who owns or used to work at the Alva Electric Shop in Alva. Vern was my grandmother Gladys Blackwells aunt. Please email me if anyone has any information on these people. I was also told they owned or worked at a Steak House in Alva on College St. and that one of these men was the mayor in Alva.

Some are buried in Alva that I have already found. Some lived in Avard and could be buried there.
I plan to visit Avard right after Christmas if anyone could help me with directions to any cemeteries near Avard!! Or if anyone could tell me where to look up Avard history stuff in or near Avard. Thanks very much!!

Mr. McNally was a resident of Waynoka at the time of his death. Seeking a copy of his obituary, and if found, please include the full name of the newspaper, and the place and date of publication. Many thanks for any help.

gdhobgen@aol.com
