Charles Juzan was a white resident among the Choctaw Nation, and it is recorded that he was an "Indian Countryman" in 1804 (Alabama Records 164:16). He signed the treaty of 1805 (Choctaw). In 1830 he was listed as living on the census of Simpson County, Mississippi as an indian, aged 50 - 60 years. At that time he had a family of 6 persons and 20 slaves. He was allowed 1280 acres by the treaty of 1830. Who his wife was is not given, but she us recorded to have been a Choctaw, and a niece of Chief Pushmataha ( "CHOCTAW CHIEFS", by Hudson). He is shown to be the father of:
1 Pierre Juzan, born in 1807, later became a Choctaw Chief. He attended the Choctaw Academy i Kentucky in 1826. He was a signer of the 1830 Choctaw Treaty. In 1831 he was living alone on the west side of the Tombigbee River in Nitaketchi's District. He was allowed 1280 acres by the 1830 treaty, this land being in Alabama. In 1832 he was a conductor for removing tribesmen to the west ( Indian Territory) and held the rank of Captain. He was chief of the Pushmataha District from 1838 until his death at Hugo in 1841. (In "INDIAN REMOVAL" by Foreman,, page 56, Pierre is described as a "chief of Six Towns" in the east. Also see Choctaw Reserves mirofilm, roll 189, frame 103)

2 William Juzan, born 1812. He attended the Chotcaw Academy in Kentucky from 1826 - 1830. In 1831 he lived at Chickasawhat. He was allowed a land reserve by the 1830 treaty, and he sold this land prior to June 1838. ( See "INDIAN REMOVAL", by Foreman, page 56. Also Choctaw Reserves microfilm, roll 190, frame 140)

3 Jackson Juzan, date of birth not given, received a land reserve of 1280 acres by the 1830 treaty. Sometime between 1841 and 1847 he married MISSISSIPPI ALLEN ( born 1812, died 1865). She was the widow of CHARLES COLBERT, and she was a Chickasaw. In 1855 Jackson was living in Atoka County ( Indian Territory) Jackson and Mississippi were the parents of:
1 LUCY JUZAN. She married EASTMAN HARNEY. ALMARINE WATKINS, and JAMES P. PATTERSON. She died in 1898. She was listed as a Chickasaw.
2 THOMAS JUZAN, born 1849. ( Application for Enrollment Chickasaw Nation, case 998. Also, Chickasaw Dawes Card 1001)
3 ALEXANDER JUZAN, a Chickasaw, lived in Pickens County ( Indian Territory) in 1878. He died in 1887. He married first to MARY PITTS. After her death he married again in 1884 to HENRIETTA HUME. Henrietta later married in 1896 at El Paso, Texas to WALTER COLBERT, and by 1902 she was living at Ardmore, Ok.( Application for Enrollment Case 613)
