OLD SETTLER PASSES
Died at Spokane, Wash., on Monay, May 7th, 1917, J. V. Higgins , aged 86 years, 10 months and 21 says. He had been confined to his bed for about three months; old age being the cause of his death.
Mr. Higgins was born in Pulaski county, Ky., near Somerset, where he married Mariah F. Price who died on Nov. 7, 1893. The following children survive: J. Z. Higgins of Spokane; Geo. P., a resident of California; M. E. Or "Montie" who married Libby Bennehoff and resides at Moscow, Idaho, and one son whose address is unknown; Mrs. Minnie Roberts of Spokane; Mrs. S. J. Crain of Great Falls, Montana, and Mrs. Sadie Rathjens of Republic, Wash.
The deceased was an old settler of this section but left Eagle Valley about 16 years ago and for the past 12 years had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Roberts at Spokane. The latter arrived in Richland witht he remains on Monday and the funeral was held Tuesday, a large number attending. The services were conducte at the cemetery, Rev. Bean officiating, and the remains of Mr. Higgins were interred beside the body of his wife who was buried here several years ago.
