Does anyone know how I would go about obtaining obituaries?
I am used to using our area's online Obituary Index, and I cannot find any for the Portland area. The two obituaries are from 1936 & 1944.
I am interested in any information anyone would have on these 3 brothers and their families.

Wife Caroline (Ryan). Married abt 1895, two children, Arthur W. Reidel b. 11Feb1896 & Charlotte Helen b. 07Nov1897.

This Riedel family originated in Oswego, New York.
George Riedel, (alternate spelling used Riddle)
born April 1837 at Altenburg, Germany. Son of Joseph and Anna Riedl.
George married Mary Charlotte Meyerhoven abt 1857 most likely New York, USA. (Looking Syracuse, Rochester and Oswego Area's.)
Mary Charlotte Meyerhoven born 1837 in Mecklenburg, Germany. She died 1876 in Oswego, New York.
7 known children born to this couple are:
GEORGE b abt 1859 - Oswego NY
ANNA b. Aug 1860 - Oswego NY, married Patrick "Charles" Wright and lived in Oswego, NY her entire life.
KATHERINE "KATE" b. 27June1862 - Oswego NY, married John K. Smith (1st cousin, son of Sebastian & Mary (Riedel) Schmidt) on 17 Nov 1881 in Saginaw, Michigan.

HENRY JACOB b. abt 1867 - Oswego NY no other details after 1891.
ANDREW b. Aug1871 - Oswego NY d. 25Nov1881
PETER P b. abt 1873 - Oswego NY
After Mary's death the family migrated to Saginaw, Michigan to join Georges sister's family, Mary Riedel Schmidt/Smith and her husband Sebastian. George lived a time in Port Huron Michigan, he is buried in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Saginaw, Michigan, as are sister Mary & husband Sebastian, daughter Kate, son Andrew and other family.
Kate's obituary states these 3 brothers are living in Portland, Oregon in 1928, Directory and Census information confirms this, though information on George is not clear. I would like to get the obituaries for the 3 brothers, but I have no idea how to get them. Does anyone have any information as to what Newspaper to contact, or a library that will help? Anything?
As always, I am interested in hearing from anyone with connection to this family. Feel free to use my email address with anything relating to this query.
