Dorothy Christina Reasoner Huntly passed away in Sacramento on Jan. 9, 204.

Born on Jan. 17, 1906, in LaGrande, Oregon, she was the youngest of four sisters and two brothers. The family moved from LaGrande to Winters in 1908. Dorothy graduated from Winters High School in 1924. She attended Occidental College and U. C. Berkeley, graduating from the medical school with her BSRN in 1930. she married Arthur C. Huntley in Winters on Aug. 4, 1929.

After living in Macdoel for four years, the family moved to Manchester for five years while Arthur went to medical school at U.C. San Francisco. When Dr. Huntley received his M.D., they moved to Sacramento where they made their home for 40 years. Dorothy helped Arthur in his medical practice. She was also active in early stroke recovery treatment and used her nursing skill to help and support many. She was also an active member of the Sacramento Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, an organization of women pilots. “Dot” and “Ace” retired to Manchester in 1980 to the Huntley family homestead, to property that had been in the Huntley family since 1873.

She remained in the family home until April 2002, when she moved to nursing care in Sacramento to be close to other family members.

Dorothy is survived by three of her four children, Dr. Arthur Huntley, of Sacramento, Marie McKinney of Mukilteo, Washington and Barbara Pesavento, of Manchester. There are 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her loss is also mourned by two long-term international students who became an important part of her life, Mika Abe Tagawa, of Tokyo, Japan and Aky Mashayekhi, of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her husband in March 2000 and by her daughter, Dorothy Gundling, in 1998.

A private family service, officiated by the Reverend Albert Reasoner, Dorothy's nephew, will be held at the family memorial site in Point Arena.
