Found: the second Dilley, Oregon, teen who worked as a logger buying a tree from a farmer, logging it, cutting it into cord wood and selling it to help his family during the Depression, was Stewart Mulvey, "Slim."
He was born in 1913 and enlisted in the Navy where he was a SeaBee in WWII. Francis (b: 1916) told the story of trying to enlist with Slim, but he could not pass the physcal (too skinny) and he enlisted in the Army. In 1944 Slim was in Australia, as a SeaBee, at the same time Francis Jerrett was there training with the First Cav Div.
