"765 Last Will & Testament of Peter Sanders”

"In the name of god Amen I Peter Sanders of Hamilton-Bon Township Adams County Penna being sick and weak in body; but of sound & disposing minde & memory - Do make this my Last will and testament as follows --
1st I allow my executors hereinafter after mentioned to pay all my just Debts, funeral expenses & the costs of Administering my Estate --
2nd I give & bequeath to my beloved wife Susanna, one horse creature her choice & saddle & bridle & two cows her choice, a bed beding, bedstead & clothing compleat, and as much of my household & kitchen furniture, as will be sufficient for her comfortable accomodation, and also I give & Devise to my said wife, Susanna, the full use & enjoyment & possession of the house, and piece of ground, containing about five acres, situate in Cumberland Township Adams County, adjoining lands of William McClellan & others, for the term of her life, and further I give to may said wife, the sum of one hundred dollars lawful money, to be paid to her yearly & every year during her natural life --
3rd I give & bequeath to my son Jacob, the sum of two hundred dollars lawful money to be paid to him out of the first payment arising from the sale of my Land on to his heirs --
4th I give & bequeath to my son John Henry & his heirs the Loom & tackling compleat, on which he now works --
5th I give and bequeath to my son Henry John one horse his choice after his mothers; also I give him my silver watch --
6th I give & bequeath to my son Charles & his heirs, one hundred dollars lawful money, to be paid out of the first payment coming from the sales of my land --
7th It is my will and I do order and direct, my Executors herein after named or the survivors of them, to make sale of all my estate boath personal, and Real (except what herein before is bequeathed) as soon after my decease, as can be done with advantage, either at publick, or private sale, as may be most advantagious (except the house and lands Devised to my wife) which is not to be sold until after her decease, and I do hereby authorise & impower my said Executors, or the survivor of them to convey my Real Estate to the purchaser or purchasers & make as good a title for the same as I in my lifetime could do - and it is my will that the hundred dollars to be paid to my wife during her life annually as aforesaid, shall be a lien on my Real Estate until she may choose to take other security for the same & release the land --
8th and as to all the residue & remainder of my Estate, boath personal & the monies arising from the sales of my real Estate, after the payment of my Debts, funeral expenses, & cost & aforesaid Legacies I Give devise and bequeath the same equally to my Eleven Children, to wit, Anthony, Peter, Jacob, Michael, John, Henry, George, Adam, Charles, Margaret, and Martha equally to be divided among them share, and share alike & their heirs & to be paid to them equally, as the money comes to hand from the sales of my Estate real or personal & the money arising from the sale of the house & land at the death of their mother, also to be equally divided among all my children as aforesaid --
Lastly I do hereby nominate, and appoint my two sons Anthony and Peter Sanders to be the Executors of this my last will and testament giving them all necessary powers, to carry the same into full Effect hereby declaring all other wills by me here to fore made, nul, and void, and declaring, this and no other to be my last will & testament. In testimony where of I have here unto set my hand & seal this 18th day of January

Adams County ss. Before me James Duncan Esq. Register for the probate of wills and granting Letters
of Administration, in and for the County of Adams, in the State of Pennsylvania, Personally came David Pfoutz and Christian Hershey the two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing and on their solemn affirmation do severally say that they were personally present and saw and heard the therein named Peter Sanders sign his name unto and seal and publish the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will & Testament, and at the time of doing thereof he the said Peter Sanders was of a sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge and belief, and that they subscribed their names thereto as witnesses in the presence of the said testator and at his request and also in the presence of each other at the same time --
