Your article left out my Great-Great Grandfather, David Harclerode who is buried at Everett Cemetery in Everett, PA. He fought as a Private for the PA 125th Infantry Regiment, Company E at the Battle of Antietam in Maryland. He was wounded in the hip when he tried to climb a fence on the battlefield at Antietam (possibly behind the Dunker's Church, since the 125th fought in the West Woods behind the church) or on Hagerstown Pike Road that was in front of Dunker's Church. He laid on the battlefield for 4 days, where he went in and out of consciousness next to a dead Conferate solidier. He was found 4 days after the battle and sent to hospitals in Philadelphia, PA and Washington D.C. He returned home and had 6 children. He was born in Everett, PA on August 18, 1841 and died in Everett, PA on February 21, 1911. Too bad your article left him out, because I feel that he fought well and survived. His name should of been honored in that article but it wasn't. If David had not survived the Battle of Antietam--then I would not be writing this today. I would not be here alive nor would any of David's children--since all were conceived and born after the end of the Civil War. I just wanted to share with you about David Harclerode who fought well like all the others mentioned in that article. Thanks for sharing the article.
