I am decended from John Morris Jewell/Sarah Pratt, through Jared Jewell/Esther Burrell, through Osborn Jewell/Electa Russell, through Richard Jewell/Celicia Stone to Clara Jewell/Frank Carter.

I am especially interested in finding information about Electa and Celicia. I am also looking into the possibility that John Morris Jewell served in the Revolutionary War. Anything would be helpful. Charyleen in Buffalo NY.

Susan like you I am a great grandchild of John Casselbury, my Grandmother is the sister to Ethel. My Grandmother is Agnes Casselbury Sayman who is a currently resides in Herrickville (I think that is the township there).
I am Lisa Davis Spruck the daughter of Bob and Linda Davis.
I would also like to learn more about our family it seems to be somewhat of a mystery. I have no idea where we originated from but I have decided to start a search myself. Finding the time is another issue. Living in Georgia also is an issue.

My wife is decended from Lockwood Smith Sr. through his son Platt Smith (mother was 3rd wife Rachel Platt). Platt married Sarah Jane Kendall. Their daughter Alice Lilly Smith married James Rensselaer Dickinson Jr. The Dickinsons were from Albany New York. They moved on to Minnesota. Their son (U.S.) Grant Dickinson married Emma Lofgren. They moved to Canada. Their daughter Irene Alice Dickinson married Ralph Henry Hofener. They moved to Ralph's home town in Illinois. Their daughter Marjorie Ann Hofener married Eugene Raymond Griffiths. Their daughter Kathleen Ann Griffiths is my wife.
I am interested in sorting out Lockwood's 3 marriages and progeny. My research seems to suggest that Rachel Platt was a widow? If so, was Platt Smith named after the widows deceased first husband?
Peter Knope
Absolutely NO info on parentage or siblings. That he came from 'the middle West' and stopped in South Canaan and worked on Nancy's farm since she lived there alone (apparently a widow and 34 yrs. younger than Isaac).

Isaac and Nancy had 8 children:

Mathilda who was a post mistress for NayAug, PA and never married b 1849
John Milton m ?
While I do believe that the 1850 Peter Nickerson family which includes Besty is correct, I think the Henry S. Wells that died in Adams County, IL is not the same one.

The family makeup of Henry S. Wells at the time of the 1840 census does not match and Henry Wells was probably still in Bradford county in 1840:
1840 PA Census, Bradford Co., Herrick Twsp., p 7/10 (Ancestry.com Images Online, MSJ)
Henry Wells 2 1 0 0 0 1 0 2 0 0 0 1
Males: 1 30-39
2 under 5 (Chester b 1837; Charles b 1839)
1 5-9 Samuel b 1834
Females: 1 30-39
2 5-10 (Elmira b 1831; Maryetta b 1832)

Any information on Betsey's appearance with Peter Nickerson in the 1850 census if, according to Bradsby, Henry died in Illinois in 1850?

I am a desendent of Daniel Frank Wells, the brother of Henry Wells, both the sons of Samuel Wells of Bradford County, PA, whose descendents are a focus of my research.

I think you might consider that the children in the subject were the step-children of Peter Nickerson/Nickson, possibly from a second wife, and not his children.

"History of Bradford County Pennsylvania with Biographical Sketches" by H.C. Bradsby, Chicago: S. B. Nelson & Co. Publishers, 1891, p 1276
"S.M.Wells, farmer and mechanic, Orwell township, P.O. Herrickville was born in Orwell, November 11, 1834 and is a son of HENRY and BETSIE (Baily) Wells, the former of whom was born in this county, was a mechanic and a noted singing teacher, having taught many years, he removed to Illinois, where he died in 1850; he had seven children, viz: Elmira, married to Allen Brown, and died several years ago; Mary C. married to B.F.Walker, and died in 1890; S.M.; Chester, in Dakota; Charles, deceased; Henry in Florida; Abagail, married to Fred Newcome, of Iowa."
(MSJ note: a family name in the area and associated with the Wells family is Baillet, possibly the source of Betsey's maiden name.)

1840 IL Census, Adams Co. p 7/26 (official enumeration date 1 June 1840) (Ancestry.com Images Online, MS)
Wells Henry S. 0 1 1 0 0 1 2 1 1 0 0 1 (Henry S.

In my great grandmother's family records she wrote her mother Sarah Jane Buchanan, Mary Buchanan, Andrew Jackson Buchanan and Caroline Buchanan were all born in Wells, Pennsylvania.
In looking at a current day map of Bradford Co., There is no Town shown as Wells. I am guessing Wells may have been a township rather than a town. At MapQuest.com a map has a star indicating Wells is or was located just east of Gilett though there are no streets shown. Sarah Jane Buchanan's mother Elizabeth "Betsy" Osgood died in 1835 at Mosherville in the northwest part of the county. Can anyone confirm whether during the time period of 1826 to 1833 a town of Wells existed in Bradford county?? Thanks

Hi! My husbands Aunt and Uncle used to own the property that the Tanneries were on.The house of the man who owned it originally is still there and is where she lived for over 30 years till her husband passed away.It was called Caledonia lodge.I think it had 18 rooms in it.After the 1972 Flood the tannerie buildings I think all went but the houses people who worked there are still a lot of them left. The property went to the bridge.I can't think of the name of the bridge but the flood took it out and it wasn't replaced. You would have to go through the town to get to the properties now.In the fall and spring you can see them from route 220.She sold the land to David Allen and he has passed away but I think his wife still lives there. The house was sold to a ???Shaw. Also if you contact the Historical Society if they have a picture I'm sure they would make you one. Also on Joyce Tices site there might be one.Marie Platt post

Bradford is one of the few areas where both surnames are found and I was wondering if anyone knew of a link (marriage or otherwise). Thanks,
Kathy Monahan-Murphy

Looking for Antonio Razzano who married Filomena Affinito. They both came from Campana, Italy. They had a daughter Vincenza Razzano who was born in 1905 Bradford, Pa and Vincenzo 1901 and Maria 1903. Vincenza married Alfredo DiNuzzo but I know they ended back in Italy. So I'm not sure when Vencenza went back or if she married here in the United States or in Italy.
