Edward, James, Moses, Jane (Maxwell) Kelley; Elizabeth Core Lines

Hello,

We're wondering whether Edward Kelley, whose daughter Jane was born in Centre Co in 1780, was related to the Moses John Kelley and Mary Spencer Kelley Means from Ireland (immigrated abt. 1730?), lived in Bucks Co PA, their children: John (m. Margaret Armour), Joseph (m. Phebe Buckman), George (m. Temperance Blackford). Other of their children, including Matthew (m. Elizabeth Hurst), Abraham (m. Deborah Hammell), William (married?) and Nancy Kelley (m. Robert Means) moved to Mifflin Co PA.

Has anyone figured out the family of James Kelley (born abt. 1768?, Mifflin Co? PA), son of Edward & Elizabeth Core/Kohr (?) Kelley and brother of Azariah and Jane Kelley? Jane Kelley married Robert Maxwell. We're looking for the Elizabeth Core/Kohr Kelley family verification, lineage and James' wife: Anne unk, children, residence, etc. He may have had a son Azariah named after his brother, also? It would be the younger Azariah Kelley who married Hannah Johnston in Allegheny Co.

The various lines of Kelleys lived in numerous counties of PA as they moved westward: Allegheny, Armstrong, Bucks, Centre, Clarion, Cumberland, Erie, Forest, Franklin, Jefferson, Mifflin, Northumberland and Venango. We would like to be able to confirm these family connections, if possible. I'm interested in lineage: parentage, place of birth, families, for:

1) Edward Kelley, b. 1735-1749 (unk?); d. 1814 Redbank Twp Armstrong Co PA; m. Elizabeth Core/Kohr (?) abt. 1767 (?); 7 children: James (m. Anne unk), John (m. Mary Beatty), William (m. Elizabeth Frampton), Elizabeth (m. unk Smith), Nancy (married?), Jane (m. Robert Maxwell) and Azariah (m. Jane Beatty).
2) Elizabeth Core/Kohr (? parentage ?) Kelley b. abt. 1748?, d. bef. 1830? Clarion/Redbank Twp Armstrong Co PA.

3) James Kelley, b. abt. 1768 ?, Mifflin Co ? PA wife: Anne unk, children, residence unk, possible son Azariah (married Hannah Johnston, lived in Pittsburgh)?
4) Azariah Kelley, b. 1787 Franklin Co PA; d. bef. 1870 Clarion, Armstrong Co PA; m. Jane Beatty abt. 1815 (?); 8 children: William, Joseph (m. Permelia Haight), Eliza, Nancy, Frutilla, Mary, Jane and John (1816-1834 Redbank Twp Armstrong Co PA).

5) Jane Beatty Kelley (Robert Beatty, Nancy Calhoun), b. bet. 1793/96 (?) PA; d. bef. 1880 Clarion, Clarion Co PA.
6) Joseph Kelley b. 8-18-1818 Redbank Twp Armstrong Co PA; d. 4-13-1881, Clark Twp Faribault Co MN; m. Permelia Haight 3-26-1844 PA (?); 6 children: David S, Washington W, William F, Winfield S (m. Estella Eldred), Jenny, Mary Jane (1846-1857 Clarion Co, PA).

7) Permelia Haight Kelley (Benjamin Haight, Phoebe Ruff), b. 4-18-1813 Dutchess Co NY?; d. 12-13-1893 Wells Faribault Co MN.
8) Winfield Scott Kelley, b. 9-10-1853 Clarion Co PA; m. Estella Eldred (Orson Eldred, Mary Goodrich) 12-21-1874 Wells Faribault Co MN, d. 11-6-1914 Austin Mower Co MN, bu. Wells Faribault Co MN.

Revolutionary War: Cumberland Co PA Militia: Edward, Abraham, John, Matthew and William Kelley
Civil War Service (Pittsburgh): David Sanderson Kelley and Washington Wayne Kelley.
Thank you for any assistance in helping the Family Tree grow.
Regards, Ken Kelly < kenandjan98@netzero.com >

I am searching for the birthplace and parents of John Flack, born circa 1790, and died 12 Dec 1843 in Centre County, PA. John Flack first appeared in Centre County in 1811, and he worked as a laborer/itinerant ironworker in Centre County.

John Flack's probable wife was Susanna, born circa 1792, and died after 1841 in Centre County. An Elizabeth was also mentioned as a wife of John Flack in an 1815 Centre County court document. John Flack fathered as many as 15 children, including Thomas Flack (1812-1880), married Catharine Logan; Jacob Flack (1824-1880 d Oil City, PA) married Mary Edgar (Haber?) [ Jacob was my ggg grandfather]; Nelson Flack (18 Sept 1831-29 July 1908) married Jane Brown. John Flack is included in Nelson's death certificate as the father of Nelson.

Any relevant information that you can provide regarding this family would be helpful. Thank you very much.
If you see anyone in your family, please contact the Centre County Library (see my other posting of this same date) for more information. I will list first name, township, estate number and date of letters which is all the information I have and all you need to be able to ask for more at the library.
Abraham, Halfmoon, 4008, 11/08/1853
Adam A., no twp. listed, 4018W, 08/23/1859
Adam W., Boggs, 11354,02/01/1928
Anna C., Boggs, 16684, 02/09/1955
Barbara, Miles, 4055, 01/16/1857
David H., no twp. listed, 15337W, no date listed
George, Boggs, 4018W, 08/23/1859
Hannah B., Boggs, 14945, 11/13/1946
James, Boggs, 4018W, 08/23/1859
Jacob, no twp. listed, 4301W, 04/25/1826
Lucy E., Boggs, 4018W, 08/23/1859
Jacob, Haines, 4265, 09/24/1825
Jacob, Jr., Haines, 4264, 09/19/1825
Adam, Boggs, 4011, 06/27/1859
Almy, Boggs, 9133, 02/17/1916
Catharine, Haines, 4078W, 01/29/1828
Emanuel, Boggs, 6362, 10/24/1894
Mary C., Boggs, 10948, 01/20/1926
Sarah, Haines, 4301W, 11/26/1832
William H., Boggs, 12047, 07/06/1931
Adam, Haines, 3987, 01/24/1809
George, Miles, 4195W, 04/28/1834
Henry, Miles, 4195W, 04/28/1834

Also, I have some gravestone photos from Union Cemetery in Bellefonte for Adam A.
This library is a wonderful resource for anyone and everyone doing research in Centre County. Kitty, the manager of the Pennsylvania Room is absolutely excellent! If you live nearby, you can pay a visit which I hope to do at some point in the future. However, those of us farther away can still get help. The address is 203 N Allegheny St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. Email is paroom@centrecountylibrary.org. There are fees, but they are unbelievably low. There may be a backlog of requests, but please be patient. I waited about a month for a response to my initial email, then received everything I had asked for and more within a few days. If it's there to be found, Kitty will find it for you. I do not know the full extent of their collection, but do know there is a cemetery database, a newspaper database for obituaries and some older wills and estates the county gave them.

Mary Lou Swank
My GGGrandparents was Samual & Nancy (Tipton) Gardner. The 1850 census of Boggs Township shows them and their family. They moved to Fayette County, Iowa in 1855 or 1856 and shortly after arriving were running a grist mill. I am wondering if they were in the same business in PA. Will anyone with any information on this area please let me know.

Frederick Leathers 1796 will, Mifflin co., PA, left the majority of his estate to his 2nd wife Jane Dill Lewis Leathers. The case below is a result of that will.

1798 JANE LEATHER and JAMES WILLIAMSON against FREDERICK LEATHER, jun. HENRY BREAM and BARBARA his wife, JACOB LEATHER, JOHN LEATHER, RICHARD MALONE and MARY his wife, DANIEL LEATHER, ELIZABETH BIEGLER, MARY BIEGLER and JOHN BIEGLER, June.
Copy of a deed, evidence, where a reasonable account has been given of the original.
THIS was a feigned issue, to try the validity of the will of Frederick Leather deceased. The defendants' counsel apprehending that the plaintiffs affected delay, ordered a distringas ; and they now cited as their ground of doing so, 4 Term Rep. 767. The defendant may carry the record of an issue, directed by chancery, down to trial, on a suggestion, that the plaintiff intends to delay it.
And of this opinion was the court. This feigned issue is not like common cases. It may more properly be resembled to replevin wherein both parties are actors. 1 Black. Rep. 375. 1 Espinasse 54. The cause was afterwards postponed by consent.
Messrs. Hamilton and Watts, pro quer. Messrs. Duncan and Clark, pro def. p 310 Reports of Cases Adjudged in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania with some select cases at Nisi Prius, and in the Circuit Courts, by the Hon. He was the eldest son of a large family and married Sally Ream, also a native of Center County. She came of genuine Pennsylvania Dutch stock, and was the m other of five children, one of whom is deceased.
Our subject is the youngest of the four children living. John is a farmer, and resides on part of the old homestead in Center County PA; Mary married S.N. Harter, Esq., and is now deceased; Margaret married George Newcomber; she is a widow and lives with her children, George resides in Freeport; our subject is the remaining member of the family. The father was married the second time to Catherine Kerr, who dying in 1866, left two children - Leah adn Catherine C. After the death of the second wife, Peter Wolf Sr., came West and lived with his children in Iowa and this State, until his death, thich took place at the ripe old age of eighty-six years and four months. This was in February 1884. He was a good man, respected by all who knew him.
Our subject was only two years old when his mother died. He was born April 10, 1830, was educated in the common schools and lived at home with his father until he was thirteen years old. He then started to learn the trade of a cabinet-maker with his brother-in-law, S.N. Harter of Center County. He was with Mr. Harter two years afterward working at millwrighting for a time. He then followed his trade, and later carpentering. Peter Wolf, Jr. was married in Center County, PA in 1848, to Miss Elizabeth Rowray, who was also a native of Center County, having been born there April 14, 1829. She was the daughter of John Rowray, who came West in 1854, and died in this township in 1865. After the death of her husband Mrs. Rowray made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wolf, and died here in 1867. Mr. Rowray was a tinsmith by trade. Mrs. Wolf has become the mother of twelve children, two of whom are deceased; George W. married Miss Mary Mallery, and resides on a farm in this township; John P. lives in Dakota Village, this county; James F. is a farmer now living in Iowa; Katie C. is the wife of H.B. Tate, a farmer now living in Lancaster Township, this county; Elizabeth is the wife of Thomas Nible, who is engaged in farming in Ridott Township, this county; Ellen is the wife of F.S. Nestelrode, and lives in Clay County, Neb., on a farm; Frank F., Sadie, Edwin and Orrin reside at home; Mary and Charles died in infancy.
On April 1, 1855, Mr. Wolf, wife and three children, first came to Illinois, locating for a time in Freeport, and then came to this township. He finally purchased land, and later went to Dakota, Dakota Twp. In the spring of 1858 he located on his farm in this township, where he now lives. Altogether he owns 193 acres of land, most of which is under the plow. Mr. Wolf and his family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Politically, he is a Republican.

Need help finding Moyer- Kemmerer link AND a possible different Moyer family-McKinney Link

I am starting to go back and clean up my tree so I can have the verifications that I actually have the right people attached to it. (A valuable lesson learned from automatically clicking on the merge family option)

I am looking for possibly two different Moyer families
Both Moyer's have ties to the Main part of my family, which is McKinney

Moyer Link #1
I know that my great grandmother's maiden name was Elizabeth V Moyer. She married William Franklin McKinney, they had 9 children.

I have a picture of her mother, Sarah Emmaline Kemmerer who possibly married a Franklin Moyer. Their children may possibly be:

Emma M Moyer 1873–
Elizabeth V Moyer 1874–1940 (my great grandmother)
Abbie Moyer 1877–
Allen F Moyer 1878–
Ella Moyer 1882–
Archie A Moyer 1891–

This information I found while weeding out Census reports and picking out one that looked close to a family tie, as one of Elizabeth and William's children is named Perry Archibald. So I am not sure if I even have the right family of Sarah's yet, or not.

Moyer Link # 2
Comes from a narritive that I obtained from another distant relative (Glenn/Goodhart/McKinney connection) which states that:
"Uncle Parry McKinnery -
her soldier uncle. Three sisters --
Aunt Sadie -- maiden aunt, who lived
and passed away at Center Hall,
Pennsylvania. Aunt Belle, wife of Dr.
George Lee. She also lived and
passed on at Center Hall,
Pennsylvania. Aunt Beckie Moyer.
There were two daughters in the
Moyer family -- Mable -- married to
Daniel Koch, and Etta. All have
passed on. There is a daughter of the
Kochs still living. The Moyers and
Kochs lived many years in Sunbury,
Pennsylvania"

Parry in the narritive is spelled wrong, as it is about Perry Thompson McKinney, who was William F McKinney's father.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for additional on my Gardner family. I have attached a page of the 1850 Boggs Township census. My family is listed as #75, That of Samuel and Nancy (Tipton) Gardner. This family relocated to Fayette County, Iowa in 1854 or 55. Did they make the trek by themselves or was there a group of families that went at the same time? How would they have traveled?

I am wondering if their location as of this census might give someone a clue as to the exact Gardner family Samuel came from. They are living among some families that I have run into often during my search, such as Fox and Leathers.

I am researching the Taylor family who were Quakers from Chester County, Pa. Thomas and Jacob Taylor along with George Whippo were part of the Quaker move westward from Chester County Pa in the mid-1700, arriving in present day Halfmoon Township, Centre County, Pa around 1785 George Whippo (b abt 1740) is related to the Thomas and Jacob Taylor line by virture of the fact that his father George Whippo (B 1703) married Jane Worrilow abt 1726 and a Jacob Taylor married Jane's sister Grace Worrilow about the same time. Although I know that this Taylor line came from Chester County, Pa., I have been unable to trace it back any farther.
Is anyone else researching this line and can provide info. Thanks.....Frank Smead, Bellefonte, Pa.
