Robert Adamson, Jr., of Youngstown, passed peacefully on April 14, 2008 at the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born on July 7, 1921 in Hyde, PA, he was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Adamson, Sr. and Elizabeth Hunter; sisters, Margaret Katrosh and Katherine Brown and brothers, James and George Adamson. "Bun", as he was loving known to his family and friends, leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Leah (Turner); their seven children, R. Cameron (Twila) of Aliquippa, PA, W. Garey of Rochester, Thomas (Linda) of Youngstown, Timothy of Youngstown, Douglas (Linda) of Youngstown, Joy Khatib (Khaled) of Lewiston and David (Caroline) of Henley-on-Thames, England. "Pap-Pap" will be dearly missed by his 13 grandchildren, Ben, Nate, Dawn, George, Melissa, Tim, Christian, David, Leah, Mackenzie, Robert, John and Claire, and his six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Cameron, Charles and Russell and two sisters, Hannah and Elizabeth. Robert was a proud WWII Veteran who joined the United States Army 103rd Calvary in 1940. He was inducted into Federal Service in 1941. During his service, Robert participated in several of WWII's most historic battles including landing on Omaha Beach, Day One in the Battle of Normandy and, later that year, in the "Battle of the Bulge". Upon returning to the States, Robert owned and operated the Hyde City Hotel City, PA. He later relocated his family to Youngstown in 1960 and worked as a chemical operator for Hooker Chemical Co. for 30 years. Robert was a member of the VFW Lake Ontario Post #313, Youngstown and of St. John Lutheran Church, Youngstown. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing cards, golf and spending time with his family. He was an avid history buff and took great pride in his Scottish heritage. He was also credited for building many homes throughout the Town of Porter, including his family's homestead. A Memorial Service will be held from St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Lockport St., Youngstown, on Saturday, April 19th at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Richard Blemaster officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Robert's Life at the Harding’s Restaurant in Youngstown. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to the V.F.W. Lake Ontario Post #313 in Youngstown. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N.
