Classification: Query
Surnames: JOHNSON, JOHNSTON, MCCLURE
I'm interested in any info anyone may have about the JOHNSON/JOHNSTON families residing in Clinton County about 1830-1880, specifically in Grugan and Chapman townships.
My g-g grandfather, Anson MCCLURE, married Emeline JOHNSON about 1862 in Clinton County, probably at or near Grugan twp. Emeline and Anson had one daughter, Ella, who died by the age of 2 years while Anson was off fighting in the Civil War. Emeline died in 1865, one month after Anson returned from the war. She is buried along side their daughter in Whetham Cemetery.
I believe Emeline is the daughter of REBECCA JOHNSON (maiden name unknown), b. abt 1800-1804, who is enumerated in the 1860 census in Grugan twp. and in 1850 in Chapman twp. Emeline appears to have had a brother, FRANK, b. about 1840, who married MARGARET unknown after 1860. I believe other sibs could be WILLIAM, PHOEBE, BARTLEBY & JOHN. I'm looking for Rebecca's spouse and any other information on Emeline and/or her siblings. Any info on this family is appreciated! Please e-mail me directly with any information. Thanks.
